Why did people dislike Nisemonogatari back when it first aired?
It is unironically one of the best and most important entries in the series.
Is the average Zig Forumsnon so sensitive to "fan service" that they lose sight of an anime's content?

Don't tell me none of you anons have an opinion.
Not much happens compared to Bake, and a lot of people are pussies who got turned off by the fanservice (although you'd think they would've dropped it three seconds into Bake). The real payoff comes in Second Season, and people who dropped the series at Nise never got that far.
That makes me sad. Think of all the anons who missed out on pic related.
Was kino.
Any contemporary views on Nise? I think it's pretty damn good.
Less plot happens compared to Bake, but Monogatari was never about plot. Nise is when the characterization starts to get really good.
It has the best animation quality in the series, outside of Kizu. The character beats are nice, too, and it's got the two best OPs in the series. Some people (i.e. faggots) were turned off by the excessive fanservice.
Based!
I always loved it too!
But what about Tsuki?
I liked the fan service but I thought it was just kind of a slog overall, especially the second half. Still a solid 6-7/10 though.
Definitely, but think of it this way: you get into Monogatari with the adaptation of Bake. You love the cute girls and supernatural mysteries, but at times, it seems like there's just too much talking. The plot-focused aspect is what keeps you hooked, though.
Then, Nise comes out, and you haven't read Kizu because you don't know about Kizu, so Shinobu's reconciliation with Araragi just falls flat. And it's all just talking and talking and eww, loli fanservice? Dropped.
In other words: it's a pleb filter.
>Is the average Zig Forumsnon so sensitive to "fan service" that they lose sight of an anime's content?
A lot of people I knew that were into anime in high school were like this.
They all either grew out of it or just stopped watching anime eventually.
That cello always gives me Slayer vibes
wrong
sounds about right
>Is the average Zig Forumsnon so sensitive to "fan service" that they lose sight of an anime's content?
Except nise is mostly just shitty banter and fanservice, especially the tsukihi arc
Tsukihi is my wife
>Nise is when the characterization starts to get really good.
no that's second season
Funny you should say that user, as I also married a girl named Tsukihi.
>didn't appreciate the character growth of Gahara, Shinobu, and Araragi in Nise
>cringe
That's Bake, episode 3
As someone who just watched Nisemonogatari blind for the first time I can see why. It didn't have the same punch of Bakemonogatari. I still like it though.
Because the first arc is really boring, and the second isn't that good. The fanservice actually was what kept me watching.
Nise's main functions is as a pleb filter. Both it and Bake
>God Tier
Koyomi Vamp, Tsubasa Cat, Tsubasa Tiger, Hitagi End, Sodachi Lost
>High Tier
Hitagi Crab, Suruga Monkey, Karen Bee, Nadeko Medusa, Sodachi Riddle, Hitagi Rendezvous, Koyomi Reverse
>Good Tier
Mayoi Snail, Nadeko Snake, Tsukihi Phoenix, Shinobu Mail, Mayoi Hell, Ougi Dark
>Okay Tier
Tsubasa Family, Suruga Devil, Yotsugi Doll, Ougi Formula, Koyomimonogatari
>Mediocre Arcs With One Really Good Episode Tier
Mayoi Jiangshi, Shinobu Time
Shinobu Time definitely had more than one good episode.
You gay?
This is some turbo pleb taste.
Having two Hanekawa arcs as God tier invalidates your list
this was in second not nose but nose was still good
The girls had boyfriends. What's there to like when the premise is already a train wreck?
Tsubasa Tiger was probably the worst of all the arcs
I still haven't finished nise, the amount of cucking that went on in that season made me drop it.
>Agreed. There was tooo much cat shit at that point. They should have spaced it out.
Which girls? Only Senjougahara had a boyfriend
His sisters had boyfriends
Hanekawa is the worst character in the entire series, all her stories suck and her character arc is accepting that it is okay to be perfect and have feelings.
They only said that to make him jealous.
But that was also a lie
It's not like them having boyfriends would stop Araragi. Not sure why that user got spooked, must be a weak wuss or something.
I liked her in Bake a lot but that's about it for me
Well, I'm not a cuck like you
Honestly I found Shinobu's bath scene to be way more of a surprise (as an animeonly who watched it before Kizu comes out). You have this character who is silent and bitter for all of Bakemonogatari, then she shows up in the bath, is flirty and charismatic, and establishes herself as the most important girl to Araragi.
LN readers and early Kizu watchers never got the feeling I got watching that episode.
How is fucking a girl who has a boyfriend a cuck? Maybe you're the one on the receiving end of that shit?
I have heard of some people really liking her, but I just can't stand her. Nisio has to put a Hanekawa in everyone of his stories and they almost always suffer for it.
I love the bath scene for that very reason, it really establishes her character and her relationship to Araragi
I've heard this before, unfortunately I watched Kizu right after Bake. Would want to know what my reaction would have been to that scene without watching Kizu.
