The most I can think of is he had an extremely low perception of himself and did not value his own life that much, or more accurately did not think it was worth valuing. He used to be a very different person years ago and probably treated a lot of people like Misato like shit. But yeah he's by far the most relatively stable character in nge.

Some people think that he was misleading misato but i don't think so because it'd be pointless to do so , it seemed to me that lilith wasn't planned for and they added her at the end of the show

I'm not , i think that the show has some mistakes . I like the characters and enjoyed the fight scene but i think that anno is a terrible storyteller and he didn't plan for the show entirely before making it . I don't know why many original anime suffer from this shit.

I can understand how manga suffer from poor planning - most start as works of passion by someone trying to make it big. Then the few that do get popular suddenly have massive pressure on the mangaka to keep up the quality. He's also incentivized to drag it out because he might not ever get as profitable a manga ever again. Through all of that he would have no time for long-term planning and a good ending.

But you'd think it would be the opposite with original anime. I can't imagine fucking funding a two cour show that doesn't already have detailed storyboards and budget outlines completed.

I think it was always left up in the air who killed him. Could have been SEELE for letting Fuyutsuki go, could have been NERV for kidnapping him in the first place, could have been either for playing both sides to dig as much up as he could.

Yeah and it's retarded. Franxx didn't have to suck as much as it did. It only jumped the shark in the last third. It wouldn't have been a complete embarrassment if it at least had an ending that made sense and maintained the standards of the first 2/3.
