My waifu spin off is doing great.
1. They don't have ultra-long running series to fall back on, so they can't constantly be canceling series after series at 2 volumes for not being an instant 100k hit or they'd have nothing to fill out the magazine.
2. Kimetsu started off selling low, and blew up to the point where it's making One Piece sales records it's bitch. That makes for a strong incentive to give other series a little more room to see if they improve and see if they can pull off an imitation.
It'll be 1st come years end. It's success is insane.
Kimetsu didn't really change anything from the first volume though. It was always quickly but methodically doing the necessary groundwork of telling a story. The axebaits doing crazy shit with tone and timeskips and gags trying to keep their head above water is the opposite and it gives the whole magazine this depressing vibe.
