You may not agree with his decision, but it's dismissive to claim that there isn't sound reasoning behind Griffith sacrificing the Band of the Hawk.

His rationale for doing it is basically a combination of the following arguments: (i) These people are my loyal followers who regularly risk their lives for my dream. Is it really any different asking them to sacrifice their lives for me now as opposed to asking them to lay down their lives on some battlefield? (ii) What did all the people who have already died for the sake of my dream give their lives for if I abandon it now? (iii) What does it say about me and my resolve to have claimed that I lived my life solely for the sake of this dream only to be willing to toss it aside based on principle? It was the singular purpose of my life. It was me. Was it always something that cheap? Was I? (iv) What will my life be if I quit here? Living out the rest of my days as a mute invalid and fading into obscurity while lamenting the glory days? Being a burden and a pet to Casca while Guts is somewhere out there living his dream while I decay in the ashes of mine?

Like literally everything else in the world it boiled down to "what I want vs. what others want" and he reasoned that other people's wants are no more important than his own. I don't necessarily agree with it, but it does make sense.

When Grifith first learned what was expected of him he refused vehemently. Even after going through all that he did. Then the vision was brought upon him and he completely accepted it. Was he manipulated or just shown thoughts to bring around his thinking? On some level i don't think Griffith after the transformation is the same Griffith.

Only weak and impatient fags like Griffith make sacrifices. There are ways to go around those obstacles asking for the sacrifice and still achieve your goal while maintaining your code.

Maybe he did until he fucking abandoned him and humiliated him, leading him to fuck the princess (who we all know was asking for that dick since day one) which enraged her father (who was only mad because he wanted to fuck the princess) which got Griffith tortured for years. At the end of that if you don't think Griffith hated guts more than anyone on Earth you're crazy. He sacrificed a bunch of mercenaries and the guy that fucked up his life, who also happened to be another mercenary. You don't get to bitch and moan about being sacrificed for reward when your job description is literally "kill people for reward".

When Guts left Griffith couldn't grasp it. The posibility there might be someone greater than him. Just like he couldn't bear the thought of being some no name cripple living out his days being fed boiled spinach.

I don't think it was about guts being better than him. It was the idea of losing the only person he saw as a friend. The only person that could even begin to go toe to toe with him.

Griffith was too much of a coward to admit that Guts was an equal then talked a buncha bullshit to the princess.
He fucked the princess out of a desperation to cope, there was no smooth griffith plan just an emotional breakdown.
I don't think Griffith ever hated Guts until he became Femto. More like he was torn up inside because somebody he couldn't admit was precious to him was outside his grasp.
