That episode was really just a shipper’s paradise. Between all the Kyoru, Yukeru, and Yuichi, I think it satisfied everyone

I spoke of Yuki/Machi and Yuki/Kakeru, Yuki's only ships that make sense and are popular. Nowadays I never see people who cheer for Yuki/Tohru, whenever I see polls, Yuki/Tohru always has very few votes, with a huge difference of votes in relation to Kyo/Tohru, as if everyone in the past who liked Yuki with Tohru disappear

Were you there back then when this chapter dropped? How did shippers take it?

Shit like this caused a lot of strife and anger back in the day because of how the old translation handled the shooting star scene. They left out all ambiguity and made it straight up a confession which led to Yukiru shippers thinking they had a chance

It's obvious that the staff is having a lot of fun with kitty Kyo. There's so much more of his cat side in this adaptation! All the cat sound effects in the episode were perfect too

I like Yuki x Tohru (anime-only) but I completely understand why some can see it's an unhealthy relationship.
I do feel sad though that it feels like either of them have never really gotten the chance to get close to each other on the same level as Tohru and Kyo. They feel more like polite roommates compared to Kyo & Tohru who feel like genuine close friends building something more. It's just something about Yuki's insecurities that make me root for him. It feels like he's lost since the start.

The issue is that Yuki never put in an effort to understand Tohru more deeply because he was using her as an emotional crutch

At least Yuki is still a more important character than Kyo, the whole story and the ending is about family, the bond of Yuki and Tohru is very important, as the author had the idea of the story from the relationship of Yuki and Tohru, the end of them as friends, family who created the story

Yeah I definitely understand that which is one of my issues. You can see the difference as clear as day and night how both boys interact with her.

Yes there is. They're pretty alike once you start getting into her backstory. It's not a Kyo and Tohru tier romance but it isn't rushed

WTF happened to the new Fruits Basket? Its fujo-bait quotient is through the roof. I rewatched some of the early episodes of the original and those were still watchable for non-fujos.
