Hedgehog's dilemma

just bee urself

Watch the last two episodes.

>it's your fault and you deserve to feel the way you do you over analyzing little shit

Have sex.

kill yourself
because if you're depressed you're probably a virgin so you should die as your existence is utterly pointless and meaningless
unironically

Get a bf

It's for wimps and closet faggots like Shinji or Anno.
Real men don't get depressed.

To regain your fun you have to crawl inside an EVA and about to be drowned into lava.

Accept that you'll experience pain in your life, maybe even more pain than not, but push through it and leave your comfort zone for the chance to find joy.

Remember that one girl that was totally into you way back when but you didn't just miss your shot, you didn't even take it? And then you wake up in a cold sweat a decade later realizing how hard you fucked up?
That's what Asuka is to Shinji.

get over it

not real just produce more dopamine nerd

"Crawling out of it hurts more than wallowing in it but if you aren't wipling to endure that additional pain you'll never be happy"

The pain of attempting to find happiness with other people is worth it compared to the pain of being disconnected from other people.

They literally titled episode 3 for the entire show's theme and dedicated that episode to explaining it in detail.

Also, I get that your dad is a dick, but get in the fucking robot.

That there is a difference between objective reality and truths. Most of times you feel bad for things you see according to your point of view which is only a truth you chosed to believe but not the objective reality. Everyones has a limited perception of things and you can't read the mind of other people or understand them completely.

This is why Shinji has struggles, he convinced himself that everyones else hate him (because of his dad) and that other people are pretending to like him just because he pilot an Eva.

It was the original message of the show before EoE who insisted on the importance of not staying on escapism to truly appreciate life.

Then you get tons of butthurt nerds here who hate this show and the fans without understanding anything to something clearly explained.

Persevere. Anywhere can be paradise, as long as you have the will to live. A life leaned into is infinite possibility.

I think the theatrical and TV endings complement eachother beautifully. They have different emphases, but one united vision.

Anywhere can be paradise if you have the will to live.
Inversely anywhere can be hell if you want to die.

You have to choose to be satisfied with yourself, understanding that you have self worth (rei), That just because you have responsibilities it doesn't mean you aren't free do things for yourself (shinji), And that not being the best doesn't mean you're worthless (asuka).

Ultimately your depression stems from your perception of how others see you. So really it stems from how you see yourself.

Anywhere can be paradise if you have the will to live. Just learn to love yourself and you'll live a good life.

I love how simple and easy to understand it is, but it still goes over peoples heads because they get caught up in the imagery.

That with enough abuse and trauma, you can force people to act like you want them to and call them cured.

That everything can be cured with money. Money made from morons thinking this is in any way intelligent, insightful or interesting. Evangelion was shit. Pretentious, tedious shit.

depression is a serious dieases, shinji maybe sad or conflicted but he is not depressed, stop self diagnosing you stupid teenager.

don't be

/thread

Overall I think it was less about depression and more about escapism to deal with your depression.

Basically the show was trying to say go outside and make something of yourself, don’t wallow in your own self hatred and insecurity and make some meaningful connections. “You don’t have to be good at it” you just have to try.

Nothing, because Eva isn't about depression. It's about being a friendless NEET. This is often correlated with being depressed, but not always.

Join a weird paramilitary organization run by jews, get into a giant robot, duel some eldritch horrors, turn everyone into tang, summon a giant naked clone of your mom and choke the queen of your fap folder.

>grow up and get friend/gf lmoa
pretty stupid

It’s literally the most “red pilled” message on it. Literally to get over it and come through a stronger person or fuck off and die wallowing in your own self pity.
