The first omnibus volume of the novels is tentatively slated for release in July 2021. J-Novel Club also tentatively plans to have a dust jacket on the physical volume, but is still looking into the costs for the addition. The release will be based on the new revised version of the first 15 volumes that Kadokawa began releasing in 2008 with new color illustrations and covers. J-Novel Club added that it may not be able to include the classic color illustrations.
J-Novel Will Release Slayers Vol. 1-15
>nobody cares about Lina anymore
... okay...
DELET
REMINDER THAT LINA TAKES DEMON DICK ON THE DAILY
It's kind of sad that Slayers has fallen by the wayside over the years. Do Zoomers even know who Lina is? Such a great franchise deserves better.
BD remasters when?
Zoomers only know of the DOTA Lina and whenever Megumeme is brought up and pointed out to be a poor-man's Lina, they think that the loli came before the greatest woman of the 90s.
How do I into LNs? I really enjoy western literature but I've never been able to get into LNs. I tried a couple of Yen Press releases and they all read like fucking fanfiction. The language, phrasing, repetitions, lack of flow... It's nothing like an actual book. Is it the translator's fault or what? I mean, I'm just an ESL shitter but damn. How the fuck do you stand it? Am I too autistic? Should I just kms?
so umm...
Killing yourself over a light novel seems a bit much, user. You just need to adjust your expectations. LNs are basically YA/teen-level books at best. Don't expect quality literature, just enjoy it for what it is. Have you tried the Spice & Wolf books? They're a lot of fun.
Nice. I have the 8 volumes that Tokyopop released, but it'd be nice to have all of them. Plus those dicks at TP removed the afterward for volume 6 for some reason.
The issue with light novels is just as you say, it's largely the translator's fault. TokyoPop, for example, focused more on "smooth" translation that is easy to read at the cost of losing much of the original source's integrity. Kanzaka's voice was, quite literally, lost in translation for Volumes 1-8 of the light novels.
However, direct translations are equally poor. Some of the fan translations for Volumes 9-15, for example, have stories where the writing is so stilted and the grammar is so poor it becomes unreadable. Not illegible, but something you don't actually enjoy reading it. The consequence is that the reader loses both the author's voice, and the comfort of reading in their own language.
Translations between languages that don't share the same roots are difficult for that very reason. A translation from Italian to English, for example, is time-consuming, but fairly easy in relation to Japanese to English in maintaining fidelity and flow.
Even though Lina is rapidly de-powering herself, she'd still shit all over Megumeme. Yes, she can only cast Ragna Blade while stationary for a good ten to fifteen seconds while in combat, and yes, Dragon Slave is "only" 5/7ths as powerful as it used to be, but her silent casting and mobility for every other spell is non pareile.
>YA/teen-level books
That describes about half of my physical library.
>Have you tried the Spice & Wolf books
I was planning to, since I enjoyed the show. I'll give em a shot tonight.
>Translations between languages that don't share the same roots
This shit is the exact reason I stopped books translated to my native language. Re-reading my favorite titles in English felt like a brand-new experience.
>ywn impregnate Lina
IT'S NOT FUCKING FAIR BROS
You who still talk about Slayers are a chosen elite
>I'll give em a shot tonight.
Enjoy user!
Is it okay that I want to fuck Gourry? Rather, I want Gourry to fuck me?
There is literally nothing wrong with wanting to be dicked by a good-natured Aryan chad.
made for anal
Please be gentle with Lina's tight butt.
Good. Dissapointed when Tokyo pop stopped, even with their less-than great translation.
hey
delete that
>It's kind of sad that Slayers has fallen by the wayside over the years.
I'm a massive Slayers fan (my waifu even comes from the series). However, I don't blame people for not knowing about Slayers after 2000 because Revolution and R-Evo were so shitty. JC Staff totally squandered the revival Junichi Sato had given them with the Premium movie.
The vast majority of anime fans got into anime after the internet boom. And don't watch "old" shows from before then. They should, but they don't. And so, Slayers Revolution was the big chance to get new fans into Slayers. And it failed harder than Sailor Moon Crystal.
What's the appeal of the justice retard?
The appeal is she's not a retard.
Have you seen how many head injuries she's received, both from enemies and self-inflicted? She's definitely suffering some kind of permanent brain damage from all the bruises she's received to her noggin, not to mention that she loves ZEL of all people.
>Haha brain injury!
She shows no signs of anything like that. She's actually quite smart when it comes to magic and politics. She just isn't that adept in social situations. And that's really only in the first season of the show. By the second season, she's caught up with Zel and Lina.
Gourry is the "dumb" one.
Gourry is actually a super-genius that pretends to be retarded so he can let Lina be in charge and he gets to goof off and follow her around all day. He's the perfect boyfriend, the perfect big brother, the perfect puppy dog, the perfect lover.
I thought the same thing, but Kanzaka claimed it's wrong. Gourry is just dumb. He also said Gourry has the largest bucket capacity in the series, but isn't smart enough to learn magic spells so he never uses it.
Don't care, still my husband and future father of my children.
>but isn't smart enough to learn magic spells so he never uses it.
Correction, he does use his bucket, but with swords and jumping abilities. Hence why he can go apeshit with attacks and never get tired. If Lina had his bucket capacity, she'd be shooting off dozens of Dragon Slaves without getting tired.
