Do you get upset when people criticize or belittle characters you greatly empathize with?
Do you get upset when people criticize or belittle characters you greatly empathize with?
That mostly happens to me when I see people do that with my waifu. Thank god she doesn't get talked about much anymore or I might have to stop coming here.
Post a pic now, you fucking pussy.
A little bit. It's so tiresome to hear "hurr durr why is he such a faggot, if it were me I'd have done that easily". A lot of retards here just continue to underestimate the situation that these characters are in and overestimate their own abilities.
No thanks, I only post pics of her in waifu threads now.
No because I don’t self insert and I understand that different people will enjoy different things
I don't want to use the word "realistic" but Subaru behaves how I'd expect someone in that scenario to behave.
Like that other user said, I don't care that much about my self-inerts, it only bothers me when it comes to my waifu
same except mine has gotten "resurrected" ;_;
No.
This is why I have no remorse in saying that Subaru and Touma are retarded cock sucking faggots.
>Touma
Keep seething
not really, because empathy isn't an obligation.
maybe people genuinely don't feel empathy towards a character because they can't relate, and that's fine.
>self-insert
user, your reading comprehension sucks. Relating a lot to a character isn't self-inserting. Those are two very different things.
That's true, but it is very irritating in certain circumstances, like when a character is going through something that is very clearly and obviously extremely traumatic, and a large subset of people laugh/mock their suffering. I'm not going to play armchair psychologist for these people, but I think a lot of people just can't deal with translating their empathy across multiple layers of abstraction to a fictional character. The fact that it isn't ACTUALLY happening and is fictional causes their logical faculties to shut down. "Why are people so affected by this? It's not even real lol"
If they were just relating to someone and not self inserting then they wouldn’t feel upset. I relate to certain characters because they’re similar to me and do things I do or wish I could do. I don’t get upset when those characters are criticized, because that criticism isn’t directed at me, it’s for the characters, or more specifically the writer who made the character.
No. I only care about Emilia-tan since I am just like Subaru.
I think the average Zig Forums user doesn't have empathy to begin with. Look at how cruel people are to each other. If I say I like darling in the franxx I get 20 replies of people telling me to kill myself.
So experiencing negative emotions when I see people bash my waifu means I'm self inserting as her?
no because i don't like sissies so my characters rarely get critized, and when they are it's generally an actual critic with real arguments which i often agree with
>If they were just relating to someone and not self inserting then they wouldn’t feel upset.
Haha what the fuck? Do you understand what relating to a character entails? It means you feel a connection to them, maybe because of some commonality in your backgrounds or something else. It's not 'omg literally me', it's 'Damn I really understand what this guy is going through. They really resonate with me.' Let me frame it for you.
>I relate to X character because he's insecure about X thing like me
>I feel a connection to him because he has similar issues to me
>Other people call him a faggot and a pussy for behaving in the way he does
>This upsets me, because I would probably behave similarly due to having similar hang-ups
If you can't understand this then I don't know what to tell you. There is a clear difference.
You are self inserting into a relationship with her, yes
I don’t care if people criticize characters I like, but I do care if somebody says a well written is bad and vice versa.
Nope anime is mostly garbage watched by garbage people why should anyone care about my garbage opinion? Why should I care about theirs?
sort of but then i'm reminded that one should not care for the opinions of NPCs
Then link it.
This.
I'm tired of anons telling how much a badass they would be, when in fact they're worst than Subaru.
It's extremely naive, user. And very conceited. Stuff like that gets to me
Not really.
I love my waifu unconditionally and no matter what anyone says or thinks.
Anyone who disagrees with me is obviously wrong on every account and if I was the last being in the universe to think that my feelings won't change.
I will still defend her honor to my death against literally everyone it's the least I can do and I know she would do the same for me.
No, because I have confidence in my taste and I don't care enough about other people's opinions to fall for cheap bait.
I think shouldn't be the main focus of this thread.
I could love dogshit, and that's entirely up to me.
>I love my waifu unconditionally
Who? Your stance is so unwavering that I need to know.
>I know she would do the same for me
False because she’s a character in a story
Extremely this. There’s also this thing in places like Zig Forums where people are desperate to get a whiff of something they can remotely consider simping, cucking, or whatever even if a stretch and they just latch onto that but it’s obvious why they do this.
>would
>This is the same boy who can turn into the purge king who randomly decided to kill an elderly visitor just because a coin said tails.
This doesn't happen to me because I like cool characters.
Benefits of not having shit taste.
Well its asking for unwarranted and wrongful opinions but I talked about honor so that shouldn't be a surprise
K e k , what a mediocre waifu.
Not everybody has the same taste in characters.
Evidently you consume media to see larger than life people do larger than life things. Or to fawn over badasses. That's fine. Nothing wrong with that. Some people enjoy seeing more down to earth and realistic characters that don't always succeed. There's a lot of compelling storytelling that can be done via developing these characters and exposing them to different situations. Different strokes for different folks.
He's at a bad step from going full maniac.
a waifu chooses one, not the way around
and as she chooses you she and you are the one
love is not a competition nor a choice
when she's in your heart you are already won
Is that Violet Evergarden? I've been seeing her drawn in that artstyle a lot recently. What's up with that?
