Seems that according to the interviews, his dad’s fine with it but the older crew is really hands off due to their unfamiliarity. Goro’s apparently the only head that has any experience.

His dad is a cunt to him likely so he would do exactly this: Carve his own path and achieve his own succession technique.

It'll probably be shit because cg, but it will start him on the path to becoming his own flavor of bitter, resentful creative director that will eventually turn out something good.

Goro is Hayao's failure who will forever be living in his father's shadow, doing things either to spite him or win his approval, but never to just manifest creativity. As much as I want to side with this guy over Miyazaki being a terrible parent to him I honestly get that Miyazaki did it because he put his own passion for the medium over literally anything else and when you put their motivations in comparison he honestly just comes out as a spoiled and revelious brat that hasn't matured at all if he makes statements like that one acting all proud while sucking his own dick.
As much as I hate Miyazaki as a person few people are as deeply passionate about this medium as he was and I totally get why he is so disappointed with its current state.

Goro should stop trying to emulate the dead as fuck Ghibli style when even this 3d shit is gonna feel like more watered down OG ghibli stuff and make a story about this. Lord knows no one else can understand his pain more than he does and using those negative experiences and emotions could bring one amazing piece of art.
