Do Japanese people actually get so sick when they get a cold that they pass out and can't move around at all?

The Japanese strain of the common cold is a fucking nightmare, is why.

Imagine if it was normal. The character would just be sneezing or blowing their nose often. No real way to set up a romantic moment for a doting love interest. It’s like this for the sake of contrived romance.

The Japs are immune systemlets

its the method of treatment that feels off to western viewers
in japan if you are sick you are expected to stay home from school/work and take care of yourself by staying in bed all day so it feels more serious than it is

Everyone gets knocked out by the cold.
If you didn't get knocked out, then you didn't get the cold, just something light, such as covid.

The strongest cold I eve had left me like a zombie for two days but I could still function (if barely). That said I live in a hot climate so maybe it’s worse in the colder areas.

You're retarded.

This and they are further compromising their immune systems by wearing all the masks in public transportation all the time.

burgerfag Zig Forums is the next board

>wearing all the masks in public transportation all the time.
After COVID-19 outbreak aren't all of us do the same?

50/50 better than 0.

He's not talking about kungflu, moron. Wearing masks has always been big in Japan, and there's hand sanitizer everywhere. Japan is a nation of germaphobes and that combined with their shit genetics and a work culture that promotes high stress and long hours results in them getting hit harder by small time bugs that the rest of the world isn't even slowed down by.

They had COVID long before it was cool.

I've had both "varieties", the Japanese cold hits you like a fucking truck.

Working in a stressful job makes your health worse. For some reason people still going to work.

Depends, do japs do it out of social conformation, or do they do it to avoid the 150+ Dollar/Euro fine?
Since that's what it's about here in the neths. avoiding the fine. not the kungflu.

So much this.

But also this.

Genetics has some, but little to do with it.
the Immune system is about exposure, hence why vaccinations exist. these introduce (weakened) stuff for your immune system to start recognizing and fighting.

newfag read again what he said
>further compromising their immune systems by wearing all the masks in public transportation
masks literally do nothing to your immune system, it just prevent the wearer from spreading a virus.

where the fuck did get "shit genetics and work culture"?

Only the guy you quoted said anything about genetics.
Work culture is pretty self evident though.
Stress strains your immune system, for as of yet vague or unknown reasons.

His argument for mask being bad is legit though.
Our immune system is a lazy bitch, it works only after being exposed to something.
we have litteral memory cells to record what we've been exposed to, which is why vaccines work in the first place.
Never exposing it to anything just makes it weaker.
Hence places that are used to attempting non-exposure are "weaker".

I'll back this up. When I was living in Japan back in 2012 I caught a cold. When I went to bed it was a small headache. When I woke up my whole world was spinning. Trying to walk felt like walk on the ceiling. I crawled to our vending machine and bought a bunch of juice and headed back to bed. Would sleep. Whenever I woke up I would drink a bottle and then sleep. Rinse repeat all day.

that's the Japanese cold. worst than the black plague.

flu has more sense

I though fansubs supposed to improve the experience. Commie wannabes are proving yet again that they are doing polar opposite things.

>Stress strains your immune system, for as of yet vague or unknown reasons.
Isn't one theory at least that the stress hormones cause much your immune system to get suppressed, in order to keep as much energy in reserve as possible? And when the stressful situation is prolonged, problems start to arise

What's with all the "/N" is it part of some code that got copy-pasted?

\n means new line

I passed out from the flu once so maybe.

Depends on the cold. I had a really awful one earlier this year that completely immobilized me for a day. Kept passing out and had to stay glued to the toilet.
So I believe it.

I got a "Japanese" cold once when I was working there and I felt like I was going to fucking die so yes

Yes, and there's a stress disease that occur because of too much stress. I think it causes systemic failure after a really, really, really long time of constant stress.

I can believe it. A couple years back the seasonal flu here was real bad, and within days I was coughing up blood for hours.

Cortisol also causes lower back pain, for some reason.

No but it makes for a great subplot for an episode of you seasonal romcom show.

Colds and shit can be brutal. But a major part of it is that the over the counter stuff is loaded with stimulants.

I think it's something to do with calcium exchange(?) because the body is thinking it's in fight or flight mode even though there's nothing dangerous coming at you. Don't quote me on that though.
