Honest question: what makes it different from other shounen?

Its not different, its standard, its just competent and has an ending

That's a girl, not a shounen.
What makes her different is her gender.

Having one of the main characters be a none character

It is a standard well executed shounen with likeable characters and good character designs. Also the mc isn't annoying.

Is it over? When did it finish?

Having to work with Ufotable long term, meaning less than a million volumes

The Manga ended months ago dude

Like forever? Thing seems like a cash cow. These kinds of shows tend to get milked.

Only one major villain group. The entire story the protags had to deal with the demons associated with Muzan and he was the final villain that the manga ended on. It's like like DBZ where after the Frieza arc was done they moved onto Androids and then Buu. Or Naruto where after you have Orochimaru, Pain, Madara, Kaguya etc Or Bleach with Aizen and the Esapda and then the Fullbringers and then the Quincies etc.
This show had one centralized villain group. Muzan and all the demons that serve him.

even the biggest normalfags watched it.

Its getting some side stories for characters and it still has the movie and anime to hang onto
Were actually going to be getting some new info on the movie in about 2 and a half hours

What's this ponyplay fetish shit about anyway?

Not ponyplay, don't get your hopes up

It's not what I'm hoping for, it's what her having a bit in her mouth looks like from the outside.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info. Wonder why it's resonating with kids so much when BHA felt mostly ignored

From what I understand it's to stop her from eating people. Still doesn't excuse the obvious design inspiration.

She's a demon, its partially a muzzle and also something for her to bite on when she gets the urge to eat someone

That makes sense. I feel like it could have taken a different design direction but I get it now.

I'm all with you. Way too BDSM for my tastes, although people on here will thoroughly defend it.

Its more popular in Japan than in the west, MHA is more popular in the west than in Japan, not really hard to see why when both have clear influences from the sides that like them the most

Its not that BDSM-y, its pretty traditional to use something like that to have someone bite into in that period, mostly for medical reasons

Good point. Influence can be finicky, though. I don't think it can be used to explain the Naruto in the West vs. OP in the East disparity.

Weird how Demon Slayer did much better than The Promised Neverland. Despite both having demons in their respective world(s).

Probably largely to do with the protagonist and the anime studio that animated it. I suppose the main character in Demon Slayer is far better & superior.

Naruto was loud, colorful, something new, and ninjas were popular at the time, so were pirates actually

TPN started off strong too strong for its own good. The author couldn't keep up to weekly schedule. He clearly planned the first arc but not the rest of the series. KnY on the other hand is pretty standard and that's the strong point.

Sounds like the more apt reasoning. BHA came out at the zenith of the MCU craze which, although big in Japan, hasn't consumed them like the States. Meanwhile, Pirates of the Caribbean was a gargantuan franchise in Nipland. Johnny Depp is still a household name because of it.

the artstyle

full metal alchemist did it first and better

Fujos needed a new shounen to really get into and it delivered.

I read it all and I regret it.

How did this utter garbage become popular in the first place? Is there just that many people who want to fuck their little sister?

Incest with nezuko and tanjiro is actually one of the least popular ships, surprisingly

Not much, it’s exactly what you can call “good but not great”.

It's at least 3 times shorter.

Nothing, but it's well made.
