Is it basically needless to worry about the condition of coins? When they’re absolutely new, they will be essentially flawless or close to it. After a few years they will get a little fucked up due to air exposure and you touching them or bumping them, but they will also be gaining a slight numismatic premium. After a few decades, they will start to change color completely, but as long as all features on the coin are still distinct they could as Very Fine even if discolored and a little scratched.
tl;dr seems like you don’t need to worry about your coins unless you are deliberately abusing the shit out of them

No way is the government going to totally outlaw PM ownership at least without significant compensation. The overwhelming majority of PMs are owned by central and commercial banks, so even if the monetary system collapses, there simply isn’t an incentive for them to go to the hassle of going door to door to confiscate PMs or even ban their sale. The price is going up obviously but that’s mostly whales taking us few for a ride up, not Joe average cashing in his fiat. 90% of even /pmg/ has just a few hundred oz of silver and single oz of gold at most. A few like Floor Stacker have ~300oz of silver and ~20 oz of silver, but think about how few people that probably is.
Best case scenario we are left alone, worst case we aren’t but get a moderately fat payoff.

The manipulation can't continue forever and when it ends what silver I do hold should be worth more than I payed for it. and if nothing happens and my silver ends up worthless well at least I have some cool coins to play with.
