What does Zig Forums think about Re:Zero? Is it kino? Or is it garbage? I've seen a huge split between both opinions. Why is it kino/garbage?
What does Zig Forums think about Re:Zero? Is it kino? Or is it garbage? I've seen a huge split between both opinions...
It's kino in how garbage it is
But why is it garbage user?
it's very good
Why is it good user?
People who like it think the writing is way better than it is for some reason.
I think the overall writing is alright. The people who think the writing is God tear because the dark edgy suffering are over hyping it. Only reason I keep reading it is for Subaru, which I think is one of the only things Teppei got REALLY right since he understand the audience who reads/watches it, meaning he can write a character that people actual relate to.
it's an interesting spin on the isekai genre that actually comments on it's genre and the wider context of anime culture/otakuism
it's got the typical LN messiness, but has actual thematic depth to back itself up, along with usually decent but sometimes excellent character writing
meant to reply to this oops
dumbest shit, maybe ever.
I agree. I really like how Teppei understands the audience, the genre he's writing in, and the troupes that surround it. If he didn't understand these things and went to write it, I think it would have just been another generic isekai.
But why user? You and the other user said it's garbage but never said why. Saying "It's bad" isn't an argument.
It's entertaining but super overrated in my opinion. It definitely isn't bad though, people just can't help but be super contrarian on here.
It's not great, it's not awful. I don't even think Tappei's worldbuilding is particularly interesting, but he has a colorful enough cast to compensate. Even characters like Regulus, who Tappei designed to fill the token irredeemable villain slot, are unfairly fun to read about.
so nearly complete autists, got it.
I made the mistake of reading the novel and know i'm seeing the anime skipping scenes that i was looking forward to see animated.
Episode 4 was grand tho.
more kino than garbage that's for sure
Yeah, it's jarring for me too, especially since I read the web novel instead of the light novel, which is what's being adapted. The LN goes a bit faster and skips some stuff in the WN, so the anime does too. But I'm assuming now that we're at the actual start of the arc, it'll slow down some.
It’s garbkino
Re:Zero is one of the most authentic, compelling and enthralling experiences the anime medium can provide.
Allow me to explain. Shounenshit is the endless repackaging and rebranding of the already warmed-over comic book imitation of the monomyth; packed to the mind-numbing brim with hollow characters, incoherent attempts at thematic resonance and didactic social commentary. Since it is, at its heart soulless, it can only operate at the level of sensuality (violence and sexuality.) Ironically, since it is a corporatized and intellectually bankrupt form of entertainment, it cannot even momentarily leave the confines of its own unimaginative roots and thus it fails even to titilate, never making anything really libidinal or thrilling though that's all it will ever be good for.
Seinen is the domain of the myopic and subliterate. Juvenility reigns as cardboard "adults" who resemble no discernible human type, fail to negotiate the challenges of bringing higher ideals into a visual medium. It neither enriches nor enthralls the reader. Any time spent in its pages would be better of in the bosom of a real book. But a person who dreams himself an adult still lives in the world of childhood, they believe that empty truisms and half-baked political allegory can substitute for actual education. The seinen reader turns their nose up while it drips with snot.
Trancending those two is the web novel adaptation. Its discursive approach never leaves its foot stuck in the mud of convention. Because of this honest ethic of simply going from the heart, the web novelist subconsciously imparts a greater emotional resonance than anything that could be consiously affected. Not only this, it revives the wonder of childhood as you discover along with the creator "the things more important than what you want.". Yes, one can hope that web novel adaptations (with Re:Zero being the champion of this meek but worthy type) is the future for anime. But as we see again and again, with its new iteration of the latest tired boy hero and his verminous harem we have a long way to go.
If Zig Forums talks about it constantly it means they like it, even if it's mostly bitching.
Subaru finally learns:
If you meet a girl: make her a compliment.
tl;dr: Just read the web novel.
She did though. I need as much echidna in this season as possible.

It's honestly my favourite anime during the 2010s decade. My favourite anime of the decade before that was Code Geass.
It gets too much hate on Zig Forums due to this place being full of contrarians.
Absolutely based taste. I was just about to say that Re:Zero is kind of reminiscent of Code Geass in how it’s simultaneously trashy and kino.

FTFY
True suffering when?
This season. It's going to be a lot harsher than the last.
