Which do you generally prefer? Manga or anime?

that fucking 5head anime sucks

Manga. As much as I hate most anime as Zig Forums-tier trash, I do enjoy a good manga.
There should be a manga board so I can filter anime garbage when browsing.

I prefer anime because we occasionally get stuff like Children of the Sea, Akira or Ponyo

Both the manga and anime of Akira are good but in different ways

manga 100% of the time

I always wanted a separate board for manga or comics.

Manga, no doubt.

Most of the time I prefer manga, but I don't think it's a black and white (no pun intended) situation.
I enjoy taking my time while reading and looking at the art, whereas with anime it has a set pace that you need to follow.
If there's a page with a lot of text, it's easier to take it in, and if the flow of action is good you don't really need motion,
That being said, anime can enhance the experience greatly through color, music, and sometimes voice acting.

manga

If they are of even similar quality then anime of course, I'm not a pretentious crybaby.

I enjoy animation more. Just stuff like Redline and Belladonna really does it for me. Also anime has the advantage of a soundtrack. Of course there are anime and manga that are exclusive to their medium and couldn’t be replicated so this comparison isn’t very fair, but knowing that anime can have a style like Mononoke’s, Gankutsuou’s or The Tatami Galaxy’s makes me like anime a bit more.

Anime. Colour, motion, voice acting, music, sound effects, they all add something to the experience for me. That said, there are a handful of series where for one reason or another the anime just doesn't do it for me but the manga does.

I'm deaf but I still like to watch anime because it's no issue for me to just read the subtitles. There is context that I lose by watching anime like sound effects that are intended as part of the experience. With manga, I get the entire experience. I prefer manga but I enjoy anime as well.

It's also nice to read manga chapters then watch the episode that covers those chapters and see what sounds I miss. Japanese has many more words for representing sounds than English does and the subtitles will often not include them. Like ちゅー for a squeak or ちっ for a tongue click and or ばきっ for a loud song. And んんん.

And anime translations don't usually translate when someone keeps repeating a word like あのあのあの or that'd have to translate like that that that

i like colour motherfucker, ofc i go for superior anime

9 times out of 10, manga is better. there's just more than can go wrong with animation...
-bad/inconsistent models and art across episodes
-lazy limited animation
-annoying voice actors or music
-filler
-tendency to simplify or normalize unique art styles
-limited runs,
-loss of paneling goodness

meanwhile, manga...
-has greater author/artist control
-can be weirder as it doesn't have to appeal to as broad of an audience in order to be successful
-has more compositional variety
-is more bingeable
-can be taken with you wherever
-can be read while listening to the music you like
-has whatever voices you imagine for yourself, letting you identify more with the characters than the limited styles and tropes of japanese voice acting allow
-has fun extras and notes etc that allow me to understand or appreciate the work more as a non-japanese
-can have unique pacing and longer arcs

it's just more versatile.

Manga as a whole has so, so much more to offer than anime. This isn’t a fair comparison.

Anime, because the creative time controls the timing of the story (as opposed to manga, where you read at your own pace). A lot of times that ends up hurting the experience, but when good anime storyboarders, directors and editors collaborate, they can create something far beyond what manga can achieve.

anime because i'm not autistic

anime because fuck still images.

Manga, because I am not an illiterate moron.
Anime are promotional material made for the sole purpose of money, while manga is the product of someones passion.

Manga because your average anime adaption sucks dick. If that wasn't the case then anime.

Manga is a hearty meal, and anime is just a dessert.

prefer manga but anime theoretically has the ability to be always better - but isn't

Anime when it isn't doing fillers and put extra effort into the coolest parts of the manga. Also manga to catch up with the anime.

Damn bro, have you been deaf all your life?

The highest highs of anime will always top those of manga, simply because of the multiple sensory advantage, and I think the average anime can be better then the average manga.

HOWEVER, the average quality of anime is a lot lower then it should be, and the quality of manga available is a lot higher then one would expect. I think the work it takes to make a good anime is less then the work it takes to make a good manga since the manga is at such a disadvantage sensory wise, but most mangaka seem to step up to the task and produce some really great works of art. Anime on the other hand, I think producers and studios get lazy, they cut corners resulting in the average anime episode being utter shit.

All in all I enjoy manga more, its easily digestible, I can enjoy it at my own pace and reread quite easily, and has a much broader spectrum of what is available.

i like the anime i like most more than manga, but i like manga on average more than most anime

If its an anime adaptation 90% of the times the manga is better, I only bother with adaptations that have around half the chapters of the manga

Manga.
I don't know why, probably because of budget limitations, but most anime is completely shit at portraying motion.

I can't speed read anime
