It is something that only got properly introduced Post-Timeskip, though. The only thing we saw about awakened fruits before the timeskip was the awakened Zoans in Impel Down, and those were just big dumb monsters. Awakened Devil fruits are yet another aspect of why Post-Timeskip is inferior to Pre-Timeskip.
Thank you, my man. Sick of this "Muh nostalgia" and "Muh binge-reading" narrative. As i said before, I caught up at Thriller Bark and enjoyed the rest of the arc. Then I loved the rest of Pre-Timeskip. I even tolerated Fishman Island. Punk Hazard and Dressrosa were just miserable reads. And I even read Dressrosa all in one go later and it was just as stupid and only slightly more bearable with the lack of wait between chapters.
