This is like 300% more manlier/gay than Jojos why isnt this more famous?

it's popular in Japan but if you want to know why it isn't popular other places it's probably cause people are turned off by it's art style, the mightiest pleb filter

I think it's the type of story that attracts a niche audience to begin with. It's basically fight after fight after fight... I was into it for a while but it gets tiring.

Jojo is genuine in it's gay, but Baki is being ironic gay so it turns off a lot of people because it's hateful.

...what?

oh also it has a pretty mediocre anime at least in comparison to the manga and JoJo's anime adaptation

If you're homo would you watch something made by your own kind or something that makes fun of you for non homos?

normalfags are turn off by it like said. Also, it isn't as easily memed so word can't spread about it as easily.

Baki is incredible but not manlier than JoJo's.

A series needs a story to get popular. Baki is just tournament arc ∞

Baki is literally the worst martial arts anything ever made. Literal trash, worst offender of power fantasy made to seem realistic when its not.

nice try homo

>Baki
>Made to be realistic
look at this retard and laugh.

How is it gay?

user probably feel insecure towards muscular men considering he is a twig, so he calls them faggots as a defense mechanism

that sounds pretty gay you don't gotta like dudes to mire Yuichiro's bod

because its too weird to be approachable by most people

Those who don't like it are uninitiated.

Jojo also has avant fashion, Araki dialogue, a fighting game that had an extremely loyal cult following back in the day, and those stick battle meme animations that ensured everybody on the internet at the time was at least familiar with ZA WARUDO ROAD ROLLA MUDAMUDAMUDA toki wa tomai even if they didn't know where it was from

oh and the first baki anime adaption leaning into the intentional ugliness of the manga filtered a shitload of people who just saw the dvd's on the shelf

there is nothing ironic about baki

Jojo has broader appeal. There are a lot of women fans of Jojo. Not so much for Baki. Sometimes jokey threads pop up on here about manga women don't understand but it legit true for Baki. Honestly unless you grew up as a boy I don't think you'll ever be able to get Baki. That shit 'at least once in every man's life he dreams of being the strongest' or whatever is 100% true and that Baki's appeal to men. All the readers have given up on being the strongest but in Baki there exists a small cast of crazy men who risk everything for a chance to be recognized among the strongest. Thats the appeal

>all readers have given up on being the strongest
really? I still aspire to that and I assume Baki isn't meant to be a power fantasy for those who gave up on that dream but inspiration to attain the dream of being the strongest

The art is usually the biggest turn-off for people, even though it is great. Another thing is the philosophy behind the fights, it's a bit hard to get into and understand it, but once you are in, there's nothing like it.

Disgusting artstyle, that's why

only disgusting to people who haven't realized the truth that strong is beautiful

I mean yeah. Unless you are the top 0.0001% or something you aint even got a shot. And part of growing up and maturing is accepting that. Oliva and Guevara even talk about something along those lines. Like about all the things you give up when you mature from a child to adult, and they mention how the thing people like them never gave up was 'not losing a fight'. The fighters in Baki are immature outliers. Don't get me wrong. I love training and fighting. But Im not going to lose an eye or damage my long term health just to prove Im stronger than someone. Thats fucking crazy shit

I don't want to do something like that but I've always wondered what it would be like to get a major injury or lose an eye or something in a fight. I know this makes me sound like a major league autismo but I love fighting I love thinking about, I love watching, I love reading about it, I love learning about it, and most of all I love doing it and I feel like there is no greater pledge to fighting than to give up a piece of your body to it

Baki appeals to something very primal and philosophical about mankind that most ignore, the feeling of being brutal and at the same time beautiful. Everytime I read Baki it legits let my blood boil, some oonga boonga awakes in me, maybe some freudian shit and I'm not even joking. To me it's like Vagabond with Musashi and his musings and duels. Basically it's for people whom like to seeing things being beaten and getting virtuous shit. Also, Baki is not stylish like JoJo and don't entertain with mind games n' shit. It's like a predecessor to Kengan Asura.

Reddit doesn't like it

good.

Don't worry shitposter. I'll protect you.

Baki is actually pretty popular with normalfags. Like last year on my campus there I saw a dude with a Baki wallpaper on his phone. Athletic dudes who otherwise mostly aren't really into anime are into it.
