How'd they ruin it? It looked awesome.

They overdid it with the CGI and made Lancer look desperate, which is different from theVN

2 main reasons. One, they're not supposed to fight in places with civilians.
Two, the original version gave Assassin VERY little time to stay alive during the fight, such that you could very obviously tell he only survived by the skin of his teeth, only just barely saved by the shadow and always just narrowly avoiding death using his dirks as minor deterrents. In the anime, Assassin has all the time in the world to Gay Bulge Lancer.

Why is this important? Because it adds to the lore of Gay Bulge and Zabaniya. They're both extremely fast abilities, and the whole point of that scene is to show that one of the only ways to stop Gay Bulge is to kill the caster before he has a chance to activate it.

It was a really intense "if I had been one split second faster" scene in the VN that was ruined in the anime.

Why watch adaptations of works you read if you're going to whine about it not matching 1:1 with the source material?

That scene you posted was fine. A little over the top considering it's meant to be the opening scene of that route, but mostly fine.
It's all the truck jumping and shit that annoyed me.

I actually prefer presage Flower over the VN

Stop focusing on what it's "meant to be" in the VN, and start focusing on "what it is" in a film.
The chase scene on the highway is cool and flashy, it's technically impressive to look at for an anime film and doesn't detract from what each character is supposed to be about. Assassin is no match for Lancer and can only rely on his nimbleness and cheap tricks to just narrowly keep Lancer at bay and get away, that's what I got from watching the fight scene unfold.

Adaptations are never 1:1 to their source material, especially not films. It's annoying hear source materialfags complain when small details dont line up with how they interpreted writing from the source material to be.
