Melon isn't a good idea because he's too far in the "turning bad" category. We've known Legosi's mother was a hybrid and killed herself for reasons way before the Melon arc. We know that Gosha let go of his dream with Yafya to try his hardest to give as much love as he could into a very hard family life and he failed. Why not explore this more with Gosha and explore Yafya's choice of life as the Beastar and these effects on Legosi who has started to go down BOTH of their paths already with loving Haru and stopping Riz. Why is Melon the thing Legosi chooses to try and understand and not the people who actually have significance in his life in some way? You telling me Gohin has never treated a hybrid patient? Where the FUCK is Gohin this arc? To me Melon just feels like a black hole. He's vaporized everything the manga was little by little until where we are now.

They had a good premise, but couldn't keep it up for a longer story.

Beastars jumped the shark when Shishigumi kidnapped Haru and Legosi went to save her. It has been a steeplechase of sharks since then. The biggest shark was Louis becoming the Shishigumi boss, followed closely by chimeras.
Melon's character is actually really good and one of the best villains in a long while. Paru just can't handle long-term plot developments that follow believable logic. Melon is the main reason I still hang onto this manga.

You know, hybrid born out of actual love between two incompatible species vs. artificially created species made through selective breeding. That'd be pretty kino.
