Inuyasha

Just watched the first episode and this looks like a simple yet good show. Does it drop in quality later on? The only Rumiko Takahashi series i have watched before this is Maison Ikkoku and loved it a lot.

Watching an almost 200 episodes series is a big commitment so i just wanted to know if it's good enough. The charmof the early 2000's series with the old aspect ratio and hand drawn frames never gets old, the ED is also pretty good.

it stays consistently comfy

As someone who liked it, it does get very repetitive later on. However, the plot never becomes insultingly stupid, and there are some pretty great character moments and events.

Since it's mostly monster of the week shit, I'd recommend reading 2-3 story arcs a day so you don't burn yourself out

is this the inuyasha thread?

there's some plot-convenient writing, and it really stretches the story out with side-arcs and filler, but it is very comfy, and yes it is famous for some of the best EDs ever

Oh i am only watching like 2 episodes per day. The asthetics of the early 00's anime is just too good for me to ignore. Also going to skip the movies and filler episodes. Thanks anons.

I heard we get a lot of fanservice with Kagome, how much are we talking about here?

not quite like modern anime with sexy poses / camera angles every other scene but there are quite a few h o t s p r i n g s scenes

You should read the manga. The anime cuts out a few great character scenes, and messes with some of the plot

It's a pretty fun show. The setting is comfy as fuck and the characters are enjoyable. It suffers from some heavy filler/monster of the week shit however the monsters & their accompanying stories are usually interesting enough that its not too bad

On the up side Takahashi's humor is usually pretty good and some of the characters are pretty memorable.

On the down side the plot moves at such a plodding speed and repeats itself so often that it can become infuriating. And not because of filler, oh no, I actually found myself preferring the pure filler because that was a break from the frustration of the plot. As well while some of the characters are very enjoyable I couldn't stand anything having to do with the two leads or the villain, which is kind of a problem because they are of course who are going to be the focus of attention most of the time. And finally while the setting had some interesting concepts it never seemed interested in using or exploring them.

Alright i finished the first 2 episodes and it looks pretty comfy so far, looks like collecting the fragments of the Sacred Jewel will be the a big chunk of the story considering how many fragments we see.

I'm just curious, what don't you like about the leads?

I just finished watching the series, and I can tell you it was fine. Some arcs were up and down, but it was pretty comfy like the others said.
Final Act is mixed though.

I am willing to watch it through as long as the ending feels somewhat satisfying. A perfect ending is the last thing I expect from a long running series.

It ends like you expect it to.

As an aside, I think the main pairing actually works in this case because throughout Inuyasha, there are a lot of good moments between Inuyasha and Kagome. Yeah, they fight, and sometimes Kagome uses the sit command (ESPECIALLY in the anime), but in the end they do really care for each other.

Meanwhile, pic related seems like they absolutely hate each other

Maybe I am just low functioning but I laugh out loud literally every time she uses the Sit command

The problem is that in the anime, she abuses the shit out of it. If you've seen the first movie, you'll know what I mean.

I think the only time she really abused it in the manga was the time Inuyasha tried killing a cockroach with Tessaiga, and ended up cutting the plumbing and ruining Kagome's dinner she worked hard to make (which to me is a bit more understandable)

Final Act was fucking hilarious and it was a nice change from the slow as fuck plot of the original anime. You all are fucking plebs for not liking it.

I never cared when she told him to sit because he's annoying and deserved it most of the time.

Don't most people bitch about it being an abusive relationship because of the command?

Those "people" are taking a fucking shouen anime extremely too seriously. They are just mad that their ship is being ignored for that "abusive relationship"

Good, he deserved it.

Isn't Inuyasha like 100 yo or something? Why does he behave like a tsundere teenager girl? Always wondered that, considering he was also married with that psychotic sorcerer

They were both just far too insufferably stupid to me. It pushed past the "comedic dopey teens" range and into "How do these two function?"

Was anybody else absolutely gutted by the ending? It took years upon years for Kagome and Inuyasha to get married, and we didn't even get to see the wedding.. Just a cut to them already being married.

I have a fanfic that shows what it might look like

bump

how many anime actually give you the satisfaction of seeing the wedding?
be thankful it even showed that they got married

Does Naruto count at the end?
