Don't let yourselves be fooled by how soulless Post-TS One Piece is. Pre-TS One Piece was pure SOUL.

what is the point of this thread. stop with the stupid fucking shounenshit threads.

As someone who only just "finished" the series I hate to inform you but it is in fact, the exact same pre and post time skip.
Minus my personally preferring Frankie's pretimeskip look, nothing has changed. The stakes are bigger but that is how it works when a series is based on progression.

The anime has been mediocre (with flashes of brilliance) throughout. The Manga has been good the whole time.

t. re-watching anime on Netflix, just got to the first filler arc, it's slow padded garbage throughout, but bearable, action sequences are usually slow and boring, static shocks of poor recreations of panels from the manga and ugly sluggish in-betweens to get from one to the next, amazing that they manage to convey LESS kinetic energy in most instances than Oda's drawings. Cases like your gif that make a point of elaborating on the fights from the source material are rare in satisfying ways are few and far between.

Oh, the anime has been shit since Skypiea, overall. It just has great moments.

The manga was great Pre-TS and shit Post-TS.

this technique was supposed to be so strong luffy's life was shortened. What the fuck happened ?

Someone post the page comparison image.

I think it just meant that it was straining his body real bad. I never read it that literally.

That thing that happened in Impel Down, on the other hand, definitely drastically lowered his lifespan.

He got better at it for one, can activate in specific body parts, that has to create less strain.

Increased heart rate and cellular function means increased metabolism which means shortened life span.
But let's be honest here, Luffy WILL die at the end of the series to mimic Gol D. Roger. And USOPP will take his rightful place as captain

One Piece will end with Luffy dying like Roger, don't worry.

Luffy's gonna die at the end of the series.

His death is the One Piece

he mastered it and overcame its drawbacks. It's the same with gear 3rd no longer shrinking luffy. the whole "shorten's the life span" thing was in-universe speculation by Lucci based on how the technique accelerates Luffy's metabolism.

We don't know for how long a freak of nature like him would've lived in ideal conditions
Maybe he was supposed to live over 100 years old but live 80 years instead.

Life Span shortening powers just mean "We have to show the protagonist is making a serious sacrifices to win" and don't mean shit.
The only way to correctly do them is to have a character actually lose something for the rest of the story.
Like a limb, or an eye, with no bullshit "Oh hey we healed it or replaced it with a mechanical part".

>"One Piece exists"
>It's death
Bros...

>It's either "Usopp becomes greatest legend and leader of gigants and lives his life dicking his dream girl for years and become old legend" or "Usopp dies heroically and becomes literally a legend."
Big 50/50 for our boy

I wish the tooth Sanji kicked out of Luffy's mouth had stayed gone.

thinly veiled hunter shitpost

We will all find it eventually

Oda used to be so good at those details. When Zoro scarred his legs to try to get out of the wax cake, he stayed with the scars forever. Now, shit gets reset. Haki re-growth, I suppose.

has there ever been any anime/manga where life-shortening abilities actually made an impact on the story, besides chainsaw man?

I think Luffy literally drank some milk and grew it back as a gag.

Also Berserk.

Naruto

>Both Roger and Whitebeard says right on their deathbed
Only problem is it would basically be a "friends we made along the way" answer and people would be butthurt.

the page is so much better it's insane.

SNK

but he is right, it's not something you can master. Does luffy do push ups with his heart or something?

>gets revived by the MC
Yeah I'm thinking no.
