Do you think Mayuri is actually autistic, or is it that Okabe has actually been a bad influence on her? I get the impression that his wrapping her in a protective fantasy bubble since childhood has somewhat stunted her mental and emotional growth. He's basically frozen her in a child state. Maybe for some, but Kurisu fits Okabe as a girlfriend much better, they have great chemistry. While Okabe and Mayuri obviously care about each other and love each other, it's hard to imagine them in a relationship.

They're usually the smartest or strongest, too. Kurisu is a literal genius, she even bettered Okabe's time travel in a short amount of time after becoming involved with the project which he technically came up with himself.

She feels the most simple of the cast. Including Faris and Luka because at least they aren't geniuses that guide the way, nor does the literal fate of the world rely on them and we see less of them.

IRL physics uni student here, I'd take the dumb Osananajimi over Kurisu. Science girls tend to be stressful to deal with more often than not.

If the "flaws" serve to make them cuter or stronger, they aren't really flaws. Her daddy issues are used as an explanation for her being a genius and pushing the plot. That's the same as the mc having character motivation because of dead parents.

If the daddy issues actually HINDERED her or her relationships in some way then it'd be another story. For example, at some point becoming aware that her research could be detrimental to society and harm people, but still choosing her dad's love and praise.

Similar to how Suzuha risked the time machine for the chance to see her father despite it being an unnecessary part of the mission and even causing her to fail her mission at some point.

The socially awkward part was used mostly for cute or funny moments. In serious situations, she communicated just fine.
