Fate/Zero is the best work in TYPE-MOON

So...uh I know this is a sensitive topic but why the fuck does the entire fanbase delude themselves into thinking the VN is better and it isn't close? I have read Stay Night and Hollow Ataraxia and none of them come close but the fanbase swears Zero is shit?

Because Zero is popular and the VN is very niche so saying the VN is better gives you cool anime internet guy points. The VN is fucking trash and really fucking bad, people claiming its good rely on the fact that nobody is going to put down many hours into a shitty teenager eroge.

Zero is probably the only properly good Fate work, Heaven's Feel route is ok, everything else is mediocre to awful. FGO especially is trash, you saw the Babylonia anime, that was the best singularity so you can imagine the rest (and no the adaptation didn't "ruin it", I've played FGO it was really that bad).

b-b-but the 10 hour long Shirou monologues for "characterization" user.....Kiritsugu could never !!!

because its cool to be contrarian and complain about secondaries, it gives people a sense of belonging whereas they dont have that in regular life, case in point they're the kind of people who play VNs

Zero has very little too actually like.
The characters are not interesting, even the returning characters are less interesting than they were in the VN.
The storyline is boring.

If you want to watch a good fate anime nowadays you can just watch Extra instead.

I hope this is true user, the only fate anime I gave 2 shits about was zero, if Extra is actually good I might have something new to watch.

I started with Zero and while I reallly like it, it pales in comparison as far as thematics, emotion and worldbuilding go. Also the side cast and setting are much more charming imo, there is a certain atmosphere to it that F/Z doesn't have.

Most people seems to hate it, but I like it a lot.

>Zero bad
>Extra good
This has to be satire, there's no way people think this.

Kara no Kyoukai is much better. Kiritsugu is an adult with a schoolboy mindset, Kokutou is an adult with an adult mindset, a really good protagonist

Oh look, it's the oldest bait in existence

Perhaps the die was cast when Nasu vetoed the idea of Urobuchi directing the series; he made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for his novels. The Fate series might be anti-Illya (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Tsukihime series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>t-tertiary
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the vn was terrible. As I read/played, I noted that every time the protagonist was challenged, the author wrote instead that "people die when they are killed," and "just because you're correct doesn't mean you're right."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time the author broke its own established rules. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. The mind of Nasu is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that they has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Fate by the same Urobuchi. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Fate/SN at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to become a gacha addict." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read Fate/SN you are, in fact, trained to play gacha.

It's my honest opinion.

user seems adamant of his opinion and isn't afraid that it goes against the norm. i plan to watch it tomorrow, i'll take endorsement like that over mal score anyday.

Nice Bait lmao

Extra is worse than UBW anime and that says a lot

Fucking based.

That's a weird complaint. The whole point of the show is breaking down Kiritsugus ideals. In the second to last episode angry matthew literally shows him their logical conclusion.

because VN fans are mostly made up of low IQ faggots that lack the capabilities for discerning good writing from bad.

I love the vn

dumb waifufag

>Zero
>best

>Urobutcher's canon-raping edgefest
Between the crap characters, the only good ones being FSN ones, and usual urobutcher fingerprints on it, it's shit.

They didn't understand shit about the original's characterization. Kotomine knew he liked people's suffering and accepted it before the 4th War. Saber's characterization is reduced to a suffering chewtoy. Her having flaws as a King wasn't introduced until Urobutcher hacked up her past to shit on chivalry. The concept of Lancelot wasn't introduced at all until Zero, just like how Lancelot wasn't introduced into the actual legend until much much later on in history. The moral of the Legend of King Arthur originally was that no matter how perfect a king he was the people would always scorn their ruler. Nasu basically said "she was the ideal king, but that wasn't good enough" and that's really it.

Only Zeroniggers think Saber was anything less than a perfect king.

Would have been a literal-raping edgefest if Nasu hasn't toned him down.

Urobutcher added in an extra step to Saber's wish. The VN just had her from the get go want to redo the sword of selection, but Gen introduced the Lancelot hamfistedly. Just like the actual legend, Lancelot wasn't added until some writer wanted to include some OP original character probably to make Arthur look like a tosser. Gen added it to further shit on Saber, and badly. It doesn't make any sense to include Lancelot and his supposed role in Zero because she admited to not giving a fuck about being "cucked" by him because the marriage was purely political and not romantic at all. Gen is a hack.

The Fate/Zero cast gets called manchildren because like children they have a very narrow and short-sighted grasp on reality, even their own motivations.
Aside from Waver who is actually young and goes through appropriate character development, and Kiritsugu who was more or less intended to be like this from the start, I mostly attribute this to Urobutcher's failure to grasp the traditional magus mindset (which gets more properly explored/explained through Rin in FSN), creating one-dimensional characters who exist only to make others pointlessly suffer in the edgiest ways possible (Team COOL), and going out of his way to make characters absurdly naive or idealistic in ways that he can easily exploit to crush their proped-up hopes because it's fucking Urobutcher (Saber, Lancer).
The only people who think Urobutcher wrote Saber well are people who have no idea how she was characterized in F/SN. He basically made up a new character, turning her into a caricature for no reason other than to have Gilgamesh and his OCs shit on her.
Her best scenes are her flipping out on Kiritsugu, because you can read it as her seeing herself in him even though Urobutcher clearly didn't intend that, and when she kills Lancelot because its when she's allowed to return to her characterization in F/SN. Saber who's happy screeching about honor doesn't exist, because she was literally emotionless before Shirou jackhammered his ideals into her head. F/SN said that she only ever interacted with Kerry for like one conversation. There's a reason why F/Z isn't set in the same timeline as F/SN, and it's because Urobutcher butchered some important stuff.

Urobutchi suffer porn.

Mostly this.

The problem OP is that even though most agree that Zero is the only good Fate and everything else is a huge step down, the majority of people that feel that way identify themselves as Zerofags and not Fatefags. After Zero a lot of people move on because most of Fate isn't anything like it and so all you have left in the fandom are people that suck off the VN and don't know what good writing is.

>Zero is probably the only properly good Fate work, Heaven's Feel route is ok, everything else is mediocre to awful.
>Zero good
>not shit
>HF
>not shit
I smug at user for liking the worst of fate.

You can tell they only care about edge when they make a small exception for HF.
