Why does everyone hate this manga so much? I read it and there's nothing to hate, in fact, it seems to be different than the norm of RomCom. Was there anything in particular I missed?

They don't hate the manga. If they did, they would have just dropped it. Instead, the manga just keeps getting more popular.

Main character is a major simp while the main heroine is super toxic. It’s easy to see why it’s hated.

MC has been hated since chapter one, and sadly he hasn't matured anything as of yet. You could probably say that it's hard to self-insert into someone who's just as beta as you yourself I guess. I like the story for what it is, and cute girls.

But the truth is that it seems to be more like Nisekoi by the page.
Only difference is that there's a literally Zig Forums mc, with a more believable cast of girls but that doesn't change the fact it still tries very hard to go nowhere.

I read until the "generic beach chapter" segued into the "generic stranded on an island chapter", then dropped it there. Does it get better or worse?

It's like reverse 5toubun, there's no mystery regarding who is going to win. That's perfectly fine, given that the journey to the inevitable conclusion is about the synthesis and growth of their relationship. Somehow Kanojo manages to have an obvious destination, but the author is treating it like any other 'who is going to win' harem while neglecting the main couple's character growth. As an user has already said ITT, this is going to become a cash cow that's going to be milked to death until we end up with a subpar ending around 400 chapters in.

I'd rather have a clear route with a good story than the bullshit that was 5touban.

Would you be sincerely happy if they introduce another girl, having another 20 chapters about the girl that are inconsequential to the 'main story' and have little (if any) lateral effects on his current relationships with the other side girls?

I liked the premise, it was pretty much end stage 'which girl is going to win'. Although I agree that the execution was greatly lacking. It's unfortunate that many romance manga fall into that category.

I want domekano tier dragging out of manga. MC and FMC feelings go up and down with a lot of ntr chapters like kazuya and ruka sex chapter, umi force a kiss to chizuru, chizuxmini sex scene etc.
