Makes sense for the future sci-fi stuff since the game had handheld computers, the ability to store beasts in small pocket sized containers and the technology to transfer solid living creature through the internet. Honestly it would be more odd if it didn't have the slight futuristic vibe to it.

It actually is pretty good and makes the Pokemon look realistic enough to believe that they could be found in the world.
Also brock's not chasing after girls instead girls specifically Sabrina is madly in love with brock and is chasing after him.
This makes the series ten times better. Also Gary not as big as a douche in this series.
