I can't stand this shit. This shitty Paint Bucket Tool pattern filling. If the pattern is too complicated for to you to draw realistically, then maybe there shouldn't be a pattern. But don't resort to this cheap, ugly fill tool shit, it looks like her shirt is a hole in space to the Plaid Dimension. Fuckin garbage.

I liked it in SZS, but you have a point

>Paint Bucket Tool
It's called screen tone.

Screen tonez, fill tool, paint bucket, WHATEVER

The difference is that 2 of those are for digital image editing, while screen tone is for work with physical paper.

OP, you're retarded. That's all I have to say.

OP, you're correct. That's all I have to say.

Sometimes it's done well. In this case it is bad because it gets mixed up with the background.

I remember when the programmers of Monkey Island had to break the game engine to make a guy wear a plaid shirt that's not just 2D, but with a pattern that is fixed relative to the VIEWER.

>had to break the game engine
What?

Cute gyaru

Blame Shaft.

it's also the fact that the lines of the shirt pattern are too straight. it should follow the contours.

The off-the-shelf engine they used was designed to render objects in 3D, not provide a wormhole to flat plaid dimension.

>If the pattern is too complicated for to you to draw realistically, then maybe there shouldn't be a pattern
It's really more about making the deadline dude.

What makes this character a gyaru, exactly?

fashion

I remember watching some joint french-japanese anime production as a kid and it literally did this except as the caracter moved the pattern didnt move with it
it was so trippy, like if every shape was a moving window pointed at a wallpaper

Go back to facebook retard.

This is why I hate computer generated art in manga. Too soulless and uncreative

If you told the assistant to do that, he would grab the pen and shove it as far he could up your eyeball.

>computer generated art
Digital does not mean what you think it does

This has nothing to do with it being digital or not, you absolute imbecile. Stop talking about things you have absolutely no clue of.

Compare the pair

I always wonder how these assistants cut the screen tones without damaging the drawing paper. Even if you try to cut it as lightly as possible, there's no doubt that the knife edge would still touch the paper underneath.

I like it. Shitnen manga authors can't be arsed to use them because they're retards even with the help manga studio software

In the end, it will get scanned anyway and you won't ever be able to see any cuts, because those don't matter for the scanning process.

It was pretty cool in Gankutsuou, but they went fucking wild with it. It was also a TV anime, not a manga.
I hate how Nihei's latest, Aposimz, is pretty much all screentone. One screentone. Not a good look.

>I liked it in SZS
>pattern changes every single chapter
>30 volumes

based

it's digital anyway. i'm sure there's a tool in photoshop that can do this.

No, no there isn't.

Transform tool only gets more pixelated the more you morph it, meaning you'd still have to clean it up.
