I don't know if it would translate to the sports anime of today. Sports anime places a big focus on competition which works better in contact sports. Skateboarding is mostly one guy going then another guy going after him and scores compared afterward. Also a lot of recent sports anime has been dbz tier like Kuroko no basuke. Imo a super powered skateboarding anime would be retarded it should be more like slam dunk. Well animated skateboarding would look amazing too

I'm writing and drawing a skateboarding manga and there is a tournament/competition arc that's oriented on regular sports manga. I don't think this is a real problem. It's more on the realistic side of skateboarding while showing the whole culture behind it. Problem will be the audience since it's mostly boomers.

SoL moe. Skateboarding only happens in the opening. After that, it’s just girls talking, turning into chibi figures, and buying jelly tea. Past episode 5, skateboards aren’t even in the background.
