Wow japanese fans are vocal about the new chapter and they are not happy. Theyre discontented with the way eren's character is going and the whole genocide. How does that make sense? This was right before Mikasa comes along, this shows her answer would have changed something, it meant a lot to Eren, how come Mikasa’s ANSWER would change something if Historia’s his one and only. How stupid would it be for Eren, that having a child couldn’t do anything, but an answer to one question would have? Eren knew he was a monster, so he desperately wanted to feel loved by somebody, he didn’t ask Mikasa, to test the future or the bond, he did cause, like Carla saved Grisha, he wanted Mikasa to snap him out of this state.
Eren has no love interest in Historia, he does want to protect Historia, but its not specifically her, people saying he went all through this just to save Historia are delusional, Eren is doing this for Paradise Island, Historia is a small part of it. Isayama wouldn’t make Eren destroy the whole fricking world just to prevent Historia from becoming a shifter. Naturally, as being the only royal blood on the island, she constantly has a target on her back. Mikasa and Armin, Levi the whole squad in general most of the time can handle those kinda of situations, but with Historia she is against the whole government so OF COURSE he would want to protect his friend from a terrible fate. Just because Eren wants to prevent someone from dying doesn’t mean he’s in love with them. Eren openly admitted in 108 that the squad is more important to him than ANYONE, Historia wasn’t there. Again in 130 the last thing Eren remembers was all of his squad with, Levi, Hange, Erwin, Marlo, Floch, Jean, Connie, Sasha, Armin and Mikasa, Historia wasn’t there either. Don’t take this the wrong way, I’m not trying to say Eren doesn’t care about Historia, he does, a lot. But not as much as he does for Armin and Mikasa.

I think the man in the coat is Eren's future. I think he's visiting the graveyard because he feels enormous guilt over all the people he's killed.
I think the strange creature is Eren's past. I think he's seeing all this unfold and has a desire to stop it which is why he acts all determined and draws a weapon. Then at the end he lets go of his anger and realizes it's what had to be done.
I think the scene of the destroyed village is meant to be the aftermath of the rumbling. I think the city in the skies is meant to be Paradis.
Here's the takeaway: In chapter 1 Eren sees a vision of the future and awakens in tears. This video is meant to show what Eren saw. He saw the rumbling, but also what it would lead to. The rumbling will succeed, but Eren will never forgive himself for it. The guilt will weigh heavily on him every day of his life, until he eventually dies of old age. Ultimately though, he will not regret what he has done because it secured a future for Paradis.

Why hasn't anyone in the alliance mentioned the great lengths that Eren has taken in order to protect Historia? I mean, he's lied to them, activated rumbling before zeke died (bc if he didn't, hisu would be sacrificed), exhibited questionable behavior around her, etc. Why aren't they mentioning this? Why did Isayama draw panels of Hange & Armin noticing Eren's behavior in 4 different panels if it isn't going to be used later?
Could he be Annie's biological father who had to give her up around the same time that he handed over the Attack to Grisha? Maybe that's why he stressed the importance of building a family to Grisha? Not like this series needs more overlaps and intersections of character backstories but I can see it being a thing.
