Bad title translation

Why isn't it called "the attack titan"? Who the fuck thought "attack on titan" was a good idea???

It's my understanding that that translation was on purpose.

Because there are titans, that people fight [attack].
Not even in the top 50 questionable title translations.

I pray that this thread was made as bait, no one can be this stupid... Right?

Translators fucked up and it's too late to change it now.

I call it Shingeki on Kyojin

The biggest fuckup is the order of letters in the Japanese title. It was supposed to be "Shingeki on Kyojin".

As if there's an acceptable English title that correctly keeps the 3-way menaing of the original, that ALSO had to be made before the Attack Titan reveal.

Because attack on titan sounds better you retarded faggot?

"Attack on Titan" is a better title than "the attack titan".
Simple as that.

"Eotena Onslaught" is better

Attack on Titan was just the original Japanese release's shitty attempt and an English title. It happens a lot with manga and light novels, they tend to have the title translated underneath the Japanese text, usually bad and Engrish. Unfortunately when it came time to actually localize the manga they just stuck with the bad title, and here we are today

holy fuck the anatomy on his left arm

>the attack titan
why not "The Titan Attack"?

This, Isayama wanted the fact that Eren's titan was THE "Attack Titan" kept a secret as a plot twist, but it worked better in Japanese, and you can't really localise something like that in English

Kyojin shingeki
AoT japanese title can be an unintended spoiler.

because the localizers didn't know that Eren is the Shingeki no Kyojin for dozens of chapters after it first started getting translated, and even if they did, the only way to translate that to English would be if the series was called "Attacking Titan", which sounds even worse than Attack on Titan

>unintended

No retard, should be the The Onslaught Eoten

Of the topic of SnK for a second
I always found the translation of the anime title 'Tsuki ga Kirei', which literally just means 'The Moon is Beautiful' as 'As the Moon, So Beautiful, to be fucking retarded. It doesn't sound poetic or anything, just stupid

Blame Nip autism for using that phase for confessions.

*phrase

They probably didn't want the English title to just be the moon is beautiful.
It sounds bland and the phrase is meaningless unless you know the significance of the Japanese phrase.

>Eoten
Jǫtunn, since SnK is based on Norse mythology.

Advancing titans would be better and more accurate

That just because you're used to it

Attack on titan sounds better.

Attack on Titan is fucking unacceptable because it makes zero sense in English you stupid nigger, not because of the pun translation

The title is supposed to represent the titan ability of Eren. Now tell me how "Attack on titan" in any way has a viable meaning, you speedreading ESL autist.

They probably meant something like Attack-on Titan

yeah Titan Attack would've been better in every way

attack is a really weird word when you look at it
looks like it's fucking german or some shit
look at it

Attack on titan just sounds cooler than the attack titan

because that would be a dumb ass spoiler, attack on titan emplies the protagonists are gonna battle the titans, "the attack titan" immediately gives away that some kind of titan is going to become a MC

god i wish i could re-live that moment and that feeling of Holy shit! the MC is dead af, no manga or anime has ever given me that thrill. spoiling that moment in a title would have been super aids

It sounds fucking lame and it sets the reader up for a science fiction story

>attack on titan emplies the protagonists are gonna battle the titans
based ESL-kun
