Detective Conan

There has been a very consistent focus on plot for awhile now, and with the new chapter leaks confirming the Organization is planning to make a big move and the FBI is holed up in Conan's house, it sounds like Gosho might be getting to endgame pretty soon. It felt kind of unnatural just how much plot focus has been around these days so I saw it coming. I doubt it'll wrap up really soon or anything but it really feels like its in its last few years before the final arc. Gosho did say he could see it lasting about 7 more years if he doesn't die.

What happened to Haibara? Is she still a shadow of what she used to be?

I take a break for a few chapters and then Gin and Vodka show up? Why can't I ever just take a break from this without it teasing me back in for awhile?

Just tell me if it seems important immediately or the kind of important like Gin saying they should kill Kogoro while he's still sleeping and then he does nothing forever afterwards?

I think so. It really doesn't help that she had two roles and they've both been degraded. She was the big thread to the organization but then suddenly Akai shows up, she's related to Akai, and now it's all about the other connections to the Black Org and she's just the DB's babysitter who makes the occasional snarky comment. Her other role was what eventually degraded into just being a babysitter but it was handled in a better way with the original atmosphere of the series. Now the average case is pretty typical and she doesn't do anything, she used to be more involved at least for interactions sake.

Sounds like the beginning of another big plot arc. There's nothing saying it's the case but I feel like they might reveal Rum during this. I'm not entirely sure what's been set up so far but from what I've seen

I can't really follow along with how this shit goes until it's published and translated. I think it was about a year ago Gosho said to look forward to Kir's next move for plot so he might have been referencing this.

We know who the boss of the organization is, and there's been other organization members that kept Gin and Vodka in the background for awhile. I think this is their first major appearance in some time. The current arc is about a member of the organization that ranks higher than them. It's not just Gin and Vodka only.

Any pics of the FBI? I have been waiting for years for them to come back.

You're overselling it.
-the boss was revealed to literally be some background panel character from 800 chapters ago, who never had a line of dialogue
-vermouth is the only new member of the organization who isn't a dumbass and didn't turn out to be a spy
-none of the organization's members have been shown to have intelligence on the level of conan, yusaku, or shuuichi

Wow, the author must really hate Haibara. Such a waste, she was his best character.

I don't know other than this one, I only saw this in the archives when trying to find something else. I didn't even know there were leaks until about half an hour ago. The original thread about this died immediately and that's pretty much all that was posted. Next chapter after this one is in October I guess.

I don't intend to oversell anything, the boss reveal was a disappointment personally and I feel like most people weren't really buzzed about it or how it was executed. My main point was just that it isn't about only Gin and Vodka and that other BO members, spies or not, competent or not, have had extended focus, and that it isn't just Gin and Vodka anymore.

I think he still likes her but over the years adding new characters and plot threads ended up snowballing her out of relevancy. He's used her for something called Sherry's Soliloquy for many many years.

He clearly has some fondness about her but it just doesn't translate into the manga because she has been overshadowed.

Dialing back her crush on Conan was clearly intended which removed that recurring aspect giving her less relevance to chapters outside of plot, but her being overshadowed by others is the natural course to adding new characters and expanding on the Organization. When she was at her best there were no other organization members around, and she was created and written to fill a very specific role. Instead of hack writing in some more relevance to the organization Gosho introduced new characters with new relations to the org and they overshadowed her basic relation to it. The best he could do was have her be related to an actively involved member (Akai) to keep her more relevant.

I think the only reason she doesn't stick out more for DB cases is because they've all been regressed to an essential hivemind. None of them have any depth and all have rather stock reactions to things. Back when Haibara was great, Mitsuhiko had a damn personality too. They had a really great case together in the woods where he felt pathetic next to Conan, he also had some sort of science thing that disappeared.

Vodka : And how did

so i'll be on my 40s before the series ends? the plot should've ended decades ago. it's not even something grand like finding the one piece. it's just capturing some mafia members who made him a child which sounds like a great discovery that changes society as we know it.

I also think it's been dragged out awhile but the main point of Conan has always been kid detective solving murders with a gimmick that is fueled by plot (turned into a kid by an organization that itself is part of a mystery), it's more or less around to spice things up every so often. That's not to say Gosho isn't invested in the story, it's just not the main purpose of the manga.

Comes and goes. I don't know what the release schedule has been like this year but there have been a decent amount of chapters I think. I thought the delay of Movie 24 which seemed to be based on possible manga development around the time of its release would affect the chapters but maybe it won't since this is happening.

That isn't unlikely but I think the manga will end and Gosho won't just start a sequel, the anime/movie franchise might continue somehow but it feels like once the manga ends Conan himself won't exist anymore. We already know he wants it to end with Shinichi and Ran getting married.

I remember that the MIB wanted to kill Sherry. But apparently they don't care about her anymore. Plus the author introduced another little girl like her. He did everything he could to make her irrelevant.
