If you had to choose, which pre-2010s anime would you have remade in this day and age?

Lucky star

That one about aikido guy falling in love with space princess and save her empire against dark villian

Gantz I guess. I never hated the show as much as a lot of the fanbase but just do it with a bigger budget and do the rest of the manga past the buddhas.

Remakes are shit. Why would I want to ruin one of my favorite classics?

Bleach but only around my headcanon that the series ended at Soul Society and Ichigo married Rukia.

Like says most remakes ruin the classics.

The only purpose of a remake would be if it could cover more of the original story, if it's an entirely new production to fully adapt the material.

Personally I'd like to see more of Please Save My Earth, but that's just the first that comes to mind and not necessarily what I'd choose with more careful consideration.

dirty pair

And right as I posted this I remembered what I actually want.

I want a remake of the first season of K-On, made in the same style as the second season with a similar pacing and more content. 2-4 cours.
This is the only way to give K-On more content.

A proper Bible Black in the style of Higurashi where they do each different route

Fate/Stay Night.

Pic related very much. It deserves a full adaptation.

It's probably my most desired anime to get remade and with Shaman King getting a full adaptation next year, my hopes basically raised

Imagine how well El Hazard would do (even though it already did pretty well) in today's isekai climate.
There actually was planned to be an El Hazard sequel starring Makoto's son and Jinnai's daughter but nothing came of it. The concept art/character designs are still floating around the internet though.

While I wouldn't want any classics that I enjoyed remade, especially if they were anime-original, there are a fair amount of adaptations that I like, but were left incomplete or feel disjointed and that I'd really like a continuation or proper retelling of.

I really can't see a modern day remake of El Hazard working as well. Also the isekai culture of today is very much not the same as the isekai culture of the 90s.

>Shaman King getting a full adaptation
who got the rights? he burned his bridges with Jump didn't he?

El Hazard would fade into the sea of modern isekai because it's somehow even more generic and boring than most of the worst current offenders.

El Hazard literally does everything that 95% of modern isekai does. It's literally the grandfather of modern isekai tropes.

>Also the isekai culture of today is very much not the same as the isekai culture of the 90s.

>blank self-insert wish-fulfillment harem protagonist who is given unique powers upon being isekai'd to a fantasy world
>not the same

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

All anybody knows is that this teaser came out and everyone fucking lost their minds

Definitely not Rayearth, the anime S2 was miles better than the trainwreck that was S2 of the manga.

let's hope it's not a motion manga and the whole thing won't be like this teaser

That's just how a lot of manga announce their anime when there's 0 footage.

this desu. the character designs and artwork are gorgeous but that's about it.

Akazukin Chacha, but make sure it's given the Mahoujin Guruguru (2017) treatment.

I don't want a remake, but I would be interested in a sequel to Tutu if Junichi Sato was still directing it

Captain Harlock remake but by the same staff who did Yamato 2199, with the same quality and amount of passion.

Devil May Cry and make it actually good instead of a terrible boring slice of life about babysitting a loli.

I want a full adaptation of Ouran High School Host Club.

Probably Kirby: Right Back at Ya! The reason being that the animation is really outdated and that the 2D/CGI mix looks kind of funky, as one character is almost always 3D while the others are 2D. So, the should stick to either fully 2D or use much improved CGI. They can also add more characters from the games and make more episodes with those newer characters/copy abilities/storylines. Also, the dub wouldn't be as censored these days. But, keep southern-Dedede.

3 more years until 2023 so we'll be at the 60th anniversary of Astro Boy by then so it'll time for a new adaptation and I would be really interested to see how would a modern day adaptation of Astro Boy work. Like would they actually try to adapt the manga straight or make another disconnected adaptation? And how would this even work in modern day? The 2003 version went for a very different tone combining MOTW with a series-long story arc about robot rebellion
