Are there any video game based anime even on now, besides Pokemon? The two I liked was Bomberman Jetters and Kirby: Right Back at Ya! But yeah, there was a lot of video game based anime/manga in the late 90s-early 2000s.
The Fate series.
>The Fate series.
Which is a trash game series and a trash anime franchise.
Yes there's been dozen in the past, mobile gacha anime is the thing now.
There will be the new Dragon Quest anime. Weird how it took so long for them to try to revive one of Jump's most popular series based on a super popular video-game. Also weird how Jump hasn't tried doing more video-game manga adaptations after DQ's success.
One of the odd cases where the anime was actually better than the game it was based on.
>tfw kinda want a guilty gear anime
>tfw it'll probably be full cgi
>Also weird how Jump hasn't tried doing more video-game manga adaptations after DQ's success.
I assume they prefer growing their own IPs.
Give me a fucking break. The Fatal Fury ovas were terrible. Most of the Street Fighter shows/ovas/movies were garbage. And the Vampire Hunter was also bad. They all had many different problems, but one thing they had in common: too many characters shoved into the story that ends up convoluted.
oh no, I can hear fate fags reeing already
>no you can't dislike fate, it's so good
Probably because it did its own thing, can't really call it an adaption if it didn't really adapt anything. Its also probably why the ones that don't follow the game's story tend to be well liked.
Dai is kind of an odd beast. It's certainly based on Dragon Quest, but not in any Dragon Quest game in particular.
I wouldn't call this "anime' but it exists:

I want to say late 2000s when the anime became a heavier means of promoting sales.
This too. I remember Kantai Collection airing in like 2015.
Those are the best, like Street Fighter II Victory. It had nothing to do with Street Fighter other than some vague similarities and it was great in my memories at least, I'm afraid of going back to watch it and finding out it's shit, OST is definitely godlike though.
In general when anime and games both started getting broader appeal it feels like they weren't as quite allowed to be so apologetically camp.
>They all had many different problems, but one thing they had in common: too many characters shoved into the story that ends up convoluted.
Also that most fighting games barely have a coherent plot.
There was a Bayonetta anime but I remember absolutely nothing about it besides the bath scene.
>There will be the new Dragon Quest anime
It's a remake of an old anime except it does not look nearly as good or as soulful as the old one.
>in my memories at least, I'm afraid of going back to watch it and finding out it's shit, OST is definitely godlike though.
They're really well animated regardless of nostalgia and are praised solely for the animation and choreograph.
Being bad adaptions does not mean they aren't fun. All video game anime suck ass but there are tons that are a blast to watch.
>Virtua Fighter has an anime that no one knows about
>Last game was 14 years ago
It hurts...
YOU MIGHT KNOW EVERYTHING I'M GOING TO DO, BUT THAT'S NOT GOING TO HELP YOU SINCE I KNOW EVERYTHING YOU'RE GOING TO DO.
STRANGE, ISN'T IT?
How about an anime about videogames?
Been a huge VF fan since I was a kid and still never saw the anime. I really should sit down and watch it 1 day.
>Virtua Fighter has an anime that no one knows about
It literally had a dub. No one talks about it because the anime wasn't very good. If it had some cool fight scenes, it would be remembered but instead they rely on a ton of dynamic still shots.
>moeblob trash
The spanish dub was hilariously bad.
Who cares about a Spanish dub?
I heard that the second season was supposed to be an improvement but that was never brought over or subbed. I actually kind of liked the VF anime in a weird way. It was dumb as hell and since VF lacks a real story you mostly got Akira and the gang moving around teaching morals about sharing or bullies or some gay shit but it was so dorky I couldn't help but laugh. Also the dub announcer was hilariouis.
OBARI AS FUCK!
