Shonen writers aren't as competent or as willing to stop the readers from using the manga as an escapism outlet, so their MCs are either pussies or have an impossible personality (as in, a character that is almost a parody, an hyperbole of its prototype). We'll never get a Yusuke again. We'll never even get a Naruto pre timeskip again.
