Nana to Kaoru

rereading this again after reading it for the first time 7 years ago and it's still the perfect mixture of sexy and adorable.

How do you guys feel about this manga? Is it even worth it to watch the OVA or is it trash?

Are you shitting me? The toad faced bastard killed my boner in every scene.

b-but user...their blossoming love was so beautiful and pure

Hold up, there's an ova?

It's great but I dunno how anyone didn't get bored of it like 5 years ago
Probably an indication of what this kind of paraphilic relationship would really be like, after a couple of years you'd escalate to putting out cigarettes on her back to try to bring out any feeling between you

yep! not sure how good it is though

nah, see, i think the excitement and the reason that this sort of thing wouldn't just escalate into pure depravity is because they didn't cross the boundary of actual sex/foreplay, you know? I feel like holding off on that and just doing all the kinky shit will make the standard missionary shit feel that much better once they finally get to fucking

MAL seems to imply it's just ecchi shit and they drop most of the important story points :(

And there was a Live Action adaptation, but they're all just the first few chapters.

lol, what a fag

I saw the actors used in the live action and I'll be real I have no interest in checking it out.

fuckin figures. I feel like the live action would do that shit too. Or they'd just focus on the standard plot and like, not care as much about the cute aftercare moments or the love that Kaoru put into all the equipment he planned to use on Nana. Idk man, as much as I loved the manga, I don't think any other adaptions will do it justice

Ngl his artstyle it's not easy on the eye. But not enough for me to avoid reading his works, I enjoyed his composition of a page layout and the slow burn of his stories, but it's just something about his artstyle that is personally, really off putting for me, but can't pinpoint what it is?

blue balling: the manga
God I get the way the romance wants to be portrayed there but both characters just end up feeling too fucking wishy-washy.

also, can anyone else agree with me when I say that I lowkey feel like Nana to Kaoru is just a spicy version of Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu?

i think it might be the lips for me? but i totally get what you mean. It's not to off putting for me personally but I can see why the art style would not be someone's cup of tea

Very curious how Kaoru is going to handle getting headhunted by the MILF pornstar.
Tachibana>Last Year Nana>Taichi>Pre-Last Year Nana>Leather working girl

Would be better if MC wasn't ugly bastard and there was actual sex.

They're getting there as of the sequel series.
Kaoru is trying to become someone worthy of Nana even through his self-doubt, and Nana... I'm honestly not quite sure what her deal is, Honesty maybe?

BUT user HOW CAN IT BE WISHY WASHY WHEN THEY k-kissu'd

user watch out your shit taste is showing

What? Hell no. They had some kind of epilogue in which Kaoru and Nana went to visit some BDSM author that showed them how BDSM is this mystical thing that is deeper and more meaningful than actual sex.
It was great because they at least kissed (even though it was just part of a BDSM act), but as it took a step further it also took two steps back by introducing all this narrative from the BDSM author, where it is implied that Nana and Kaoru are unable to consumate their love because of... reasons? Because the fetish loses its appeal the more you do it? Because they gave meaning to some fetish and they just realized that is their only thing connecting them together?
Maybe my brain is deep fried out of so many vanilla romances or because I'm definitely more close to the typical idea of romance but I am seriously unable to empathize with their conflict. It seems retarded to me, and it seems to be implied over and over again that Nana and Kaoru will drift apart when they graduate. There is never a reason for why they cannot be together outside of them being insecure and their fetish conflicting (as if a fetish is more important than being with the one you love). So whenever the conflict is introduced it becomes exhasperating, as if we had the densest two MC's from harem together in the same series.

Then it turns out there is a third series that (I think?) is still in serialization, but it's just a story between the first manga and the epilogue. In other words, just cash-grabbing stuff that will not develop the plot. If I knew things were going to be like this I would just have gone read a doujin or something. The plot seems to be a hindrance for what is just another fetish ecchi manga.

self insert incel the manga no thanks faggot

>but it's just a story between the first manga and the epilogue
It started as that, but they progressed past the summer break, and we're back in new territory.
The author has moved in with Tachibana from the sex toy shop and now the MILF pornstar that Kaoru tied up in Hokkaido is jealous that Tachibana gets to hog a good dom to herself.
Now she's planning on trying to get Kaoru to get into the film industry.

Okinawa, not Hokkaido, wrong end of Japan.

>Ywn abuse a cute sub under the pretense of "therapy"
Why even live?

>it is implied that Nana and Kaoru are unable to consumate their love because of... reasons?
Because they won't be honest with their feelings because Kaoru thinks he's an underachiever that'll just drag her down, and Nana I guess doesn't want to feel like she's pushing him into any decision he makes.
It took a while for Nana to admit she's not just in it anymore because getting tied up helps her relax, and that she's an honest to god submissive that enjoys humiliation.
Tachibana and Sarashina's problem was similar, that they were afraid of admitting they had actual affection with each other and not just a professional relationship as a writer and an assistant.

You're ignoring half the goddamn subtext in a BDSM manga, and subtext is the biggest part of BDSM.

Yeah and I get that, those are what I referred as insecurities and they were shown in the original manga and in Black Label. But I feel we never get to have closure because they never get fucking close to each other. Like an open ending.

literally just finished rereading this part :') ngl I teared up a lil when she finally stopped fake smiling

I was reading it until Black came out, read that, then got very confused on the time line and after some of the story the lack of any actual sex just became unbelievable and stupid.

what a G

never say never, user. never say never

But they are now, at least a little bit.

Oh is this the guy from Puppy Lovers? That artstyle makes my dick diamonds.

Same guy, this one is a BDSM highschool romance.
About a dozen chapters in they introduce a brown reverse trap tomboy.
