There is no reason to invest any amount of emotion, effort...

There is no reason to invest any amount of emotion, effort, and time participating in the hobby of "reading manga" if you aren't going to read them the way they were meant to be: Raw Japanese.
Quantity, Quality, and Faithfulness to its intended end product are all at its peak when you read it as it is. You're not a so-called "mangachad" if you shit on animeonlies yet still insist on reading materials secondhand yourself

You sound like a Catholic.

That assertion on its own does not prove me wrong in any way
Start learning Japanese, user, I know you can do it. I want you to experience the wonders of the Japanese language

I am already learning it for two different reasons.

Out of curiosity, mind sharing what they are? It’s always nice hearing the motivation that pushes other people

Just to take in the culture from another country, and to read Japanese novels, I always wanted to read The Spiders Thread in Japanese.

Japanese is a flawed language.

1) It's just Comics
2) I have never called myself a mangachad
3) You cannot discuss untranslated manga properly

I support you and your endeavors user
Good luck
As is every other language known to Man

I'll continue to shit on animeonlies as I see fit.

The payoff just isn't there

I AM learning japanese. But it's not because the garbage I read can't be "adapted properly", it's because scanlators can't keep up with my demands for more garbage.

Language itself is a flawed attempt at conveying meaning from one person to another. The only real solution is to become tang.

Good thread because it upends the subonlyfags main crutch.

There’s always Japanese forums which I won’t name to avoid possibly being banned since I don’t know what’s bannable these days
I urge you to reconsider your current position
Think of it as a way to shit on animeonlies harder

Your assertions are similarly without support. The amount of time one needs to invest in learning a language for the sole purpose of consuming a certain type of media more easily or “faithfully” is unjustifiable. Unless your work or lifestyle requires it, there is no reason to learn Japanese.

You got me there
I’ll concede the point to you
Still, I want you to try and give it a shot anyway. Just 30 minutes to see if you find it fun. If it doesn’t work then it didn’t work

It's too hard and asking other people for help sucks

It's actually three now that I think about it.
ONE: To read anime music lyrics instead of relying on anime lyrics pages (so many of them are wrong in more ways than you could count).
TWO: To talk with Nip artists on twitter, many who don't understand English at all.
THREE: because waifu, I mean, how can you claim you love her when you don't even know her language?

>work
Wagecuck mentality.
What a loser.
You learn stuff TO DO WHAT YOU LOVE. YOUR HOBBIES.

>Raw Japanese.
where can I find them online though? I'm sick of waiting for translation and I know enough japanese to read raws, but I can't find them for the life of me.

Kanji is so hard I just gave up 5 years ago.

wut. you're conflating two different objectives. i fucking hate studying and reading 3 sentences per minute because i have to bust out a dictionary. learning japanese is not fun unless you're one of those autists who find language learning fun. the reason why you wade through this shit is not because you find learning japanese fun, but because you find consuming japanese media fun. the language is merely a MEANS TO AN END

You don't know enough then

Literal 5 years old child and toddlers are able to learn that, so what'd stopping you, an adult, from doing it? Believe in yourself and start studying for at least 1-2 hours a day

I learned Japanese for soaplands and brothels.

I'm learning german instead, cooler and more useful.

Kanji is only hard if your approach to it is retarded.
That is why I keep telling people NOT to ankidrone.
Immerse yourself into the language, don't treat learning it like it's your job, have fun learning it instead.

>Learning a new language to read mangos
that's not a good reason to months worth of time to learn it, but considering Zig Forums is full of neets with no hope in getting a life it's probably worth while, too bad the discipline and will power needed won't be enough or even close to the quarter it requires.

please spoonfeed me.

YOU BUY THEM, RETARD

>it’s too hard
While it’s certainly one of the most difficult languages to learn for English speakers (especially monolinguals), 6 months of dedication should be enough to let you understand and maybe even keep up with about 80-95% of everyday conversations between 2 native speakers
>asking for help sucks
You can refer to the guide in /djt/ at /jp/ to learn the various approaches and methods anons have been using for a long time (the threads themselves may or may not be helpful, but most of their advice come from the guide and Matt vs. Japan anyway + very helpful materials you could use when you’re more advanced but by then you should know where and how to look for those resources yourself)
I personally believe that learning a language is about just as fun as consuming entertainment from that language. Being able to have an “ah, I get the nuance of this word now” moment is as good as the string of text that word resides in on its own
Perhaps I was mistaken in projecting that sense of joy onto you, then. My mistake

I WANT TO PIRATE SHIT

Decent AI autotranslation is 10-20 years away. So everyone non-nipknower wins in the long run.

I hope your mommy is staying healthy so she can live to support you.
Think of it like this. When you’re learning to play a sport or some game, you’re actually taking part in the hobby. You’re probably having fun doing it. When you’re learning a language, you’re not actually taking part in your hobby of anime or manga. You’re probably staring at a screen or a book memorizing symbols, words, grammar rules, tenses, etc. That’s not fun for most people and it can take months to a year before you’re deciphering relatively simple sentences with a dictionary. It’s not just a time investment for a hobby, it’s a time investment spent on something almost removed from that hobby.

>Decent AI autotranslation is 10-20 years away
More like 100 years away.
