the novel is from 2006 and only uses sekai,kotonoha and makoto the rest are barelly used it seeems since is mostly school days but with some changes like sekai having more sex.
The novel seem to have been released before summer days and used what overflow sold and hyped when releasing Summer Days "Take control of the heroine and her choices encounter old characters and influence their actions" since the only info known of Summer days was take place in radish sekai worked in radish,you control the heroine so you control sekai choices,makoto wasn't shown yet so most of the chars shown on the game didn't make the cut on the LN no one thought kokoro was going to be ingame

LN was released months before summer days there was no info of the game just some info gave by overflow "Summer days is a prequel to school days,take place in summer,the place is radish restaurant,you control the heroine actions" that was the info 0verflow gave about the summer days game without knowing what was the main story author created a story from scratch.
The light novel asumed summer days was about sekai and how she had sex with other guys,the LN author even gave the first part the name "Sekai Summer Days"

light novels are different they have content and explanations not available for example is explained that sekai was sexually abused by his grandad in the LN and reason of why youko divorced was because shun never did anything to protect sekai even when he knew.

anyone could make a LN back then you didn't need authorization from the authors sometimes author of games just slapped the seal of them to make it official once sold thousands of copies (LN has the Overflow logo).
