Some dumb shit.
I've been looking for one specific one for an extremely long time. It's called Hell C.A.T.S. or something of that sort and has an acronym in it's name. Is basically female anime A-Team and is from the 90s apparently? Had a thread on here a couple years ago.
Only seen 4 episodes, but I have a strong feeling this will enter my top 10
Make sure to read Jim the Pirate.
did you read the book?
dna2 has one of the best openings ever
Conan the future boy, is cool
Watched Devilman: The Birth last night and it was pretty great. Next up is The Demon Bird and Amon!
L'Arc~en~Ciel are peak 90's j-rock
Started watching GTO after reading the (kino) manga
Genmu Senki Leda was pretty good. Loved the animation and the designs
music was actually great too, but honestly I think it would've benefited from being shorter. Maybe I was just tired but I was losing steam the more characters explained the setting, since the stellar worldbuilding was doing a great job of it already without dialogue
I wish it got 52 episodes or something desu, but I'm impressed at how much they managed to cram in to a single movie. It's great.
and i will never know what it was
I could see that working well, it's much easier to keep the energy over a short episode, and it simple enough to extend over a long period to really explore the world and absent goddess dynamic, though it was already pretty well rounded as a movie. It follows a great arc and I loved how the setting kept changing
That could be any number of things given the period. Gunsmith Cats? Desert Rose?
I'm slowly going through Robot Carnival. The shorts have been a mixed bag in terms of enjoyment but I respect the artistic intent behind them nonetheless.
Filename and subs would suggest Metal Amour Dragonar

damn, I knew it'd be some mechashit lol
Did someone completed fansubbing Yawara? Man it sucks that I can't find the show's Asian english dub
Wizardry is good fun. It's got a ninja. His name is Hawkwind. He's pretty cool.
Nothing wrong with mechashit user. Anyway, not a seiyuufag but this slut’s voice turns me on.
>completed
yes and no. the shitty dvd rip is completely hardsubbed. saizen is and has been subbing the BDs for years now, and is in the process of resubbing the whole thing. they're at ep 46 now, i think it's been like, 5 years.
should i watch devilman OVA's or the 1972 anime or both and if so should I watch the anime first?
THAT'S THE ONE-
Almost finished with Oniisama e. Still not sure if I actually like it or not.
17 episodes in and it looks great so far.
all rumikoshit is so awful, I dunno how people watch that shit and enjoy it.
Mariko best girl. Also the Tomboy melodrama at the end was retarded. Other than that, it was great.
You hear about it every day and I'm sorry if it's tired at this point, but I've gotten a friend to start watching NGE with me after a year of asking him to. He's a big fan of DBZ, One Piece, Yu Yu Hakusho and Naruto so Eva is a little different for him. I've asked him a couple of times what he thinks about the show, but we've always had something else going on inside the call and I can't tell if he refuses to answer me or just didn't hear what I asked. I remember very distinctly after episode 4 (an episode which he started playing Kingdom Hearts in another tab towards the end of out of boredom I assume) and when it was over he asked me when Shinji's character progression arc was going to start. I really wanted to say that this wasn't that kind of show, but held my tongue. We've made it to episode 7 so far. He still hasn't given me his opinion on the show.
Watched Maison Ikkoku a few years ago, enjoyed it as well.
Oh yeah, and the Patlabor OVA which has is really great.
the endless "lol misunderstandings" and unlikable characters in all of her works just pisses me off. I seriously don't understand the appeal, and at this point, never will.
were are the translations holy shit?
I think at least 6-7 World Masterpiece Theater shows should be a mandatory watch to be allowed to post on Zig Forums.
It's just not your cup of tea user.
Depends on how much tolerance you have for 70's anime. It's really different from the manga, so maybe watch a couple of episodes then move on to the ova's.
classic children's literature should be mandatory reading, for life in general.
Recently downloaded Do You Remember Love? to watch with my family. Also been meaning to watch the Galaxy Express 999 movie.
>dna2
I actually met Masakazu Katsura.
He hates the anime made from his series, and he doesn't do any more manga because .... fuck the industry.
1. He didn't see a dime from any of the anime made from his work. He got contractually fucked out of receiving money from them.
2. When he was writing the I''s manga, his editor kept telling him to drag it out, add more characters, and at one point refused to let him end the manga- So he (in a literal RAGE QUIT) killed off the MC and refused to do any more work until they finally caved and let him tell the story he wanted to tell. He retconned the MC's death and ended the series.
Which ones would you recommend? I'm only really familiar with Heidi
>on a sci fi kick
>run out of more recent series and start watching some 'classics' like outlaw star
>all saturday morning cartoon tier shit
why does Zig Forums pretend quality anime was made before 2000? is it nostalgia?
So you hate fun gotcha
Maybe you should simply stop watching bad shows?
I know the feel user, I've managed to introduce a lot of my friends to anime over the years and honestly I think people who haven't really seen anime or don't consider themselves fans are more receptive to NGE and more serious anime than people who are into the popular stuff. One was completely averse to anime but fell in love with the designs and when he actually watched the show became really interested in anime as a more engaging/thoughtful experience and he's been on FLCL and a bunch of other good stuff since, but another who's had friends show him shounen and the more popular stuff watched it because of how much it had been talked about and couldn't stand it. Thought it was too boring, same complaint about no "manning up" arc. I think once you get this impression that anime is all about entertainment and action you don't really look for anything below the surface or start to get turned off when it tries to probe around instead of following something simple. I don't really have a conclusion on if people like that will ever come to appreciate that side of anime, but I'm sure it's possible - tastes change over time, and if you find the right angle to approach from you could probably bring anyone into the depths of the medium
One Piece
Just fucking end it already Oda
>I actually met Masakazu Katsura
my dad works at Nintendo too
Macross' plot gets really muddy in DYRL with having to condense it down to an hour and a half, but the art is mindblowing and because of that it's my favorite mecha work.
first I've heard this. When was it? The zetman adaptation wasn't too long ago
There was an OVA or movie I saw back in the 1990's that I can't remember the name of:
There was an all-female race that was in a space war with an alien race that looked sorta like bugs.
Their ship crashes? lands? on a planet and they're exploring around in mecha when they discover a naked boy.
They've got no idea what to do with him, and they've got no idea he was invented by the aliens as a secret weapon against them.
lol hijinks ensue.
I watched and loved macross frontier recently but only got a couple episodes into delta, which is hear is more like the old series. Will i hate them too?
Yeah, I'm mainly watching it for the animation. Absolutely beautiful work, and I love missile/laser spam in sci-fi.
