Well, this was pending task, and seeing the current abundance of shonen a little change is good so here it comes
"Your lives have ended. What you do with your new life is entirely up to me. That's the theory anyway."
>What the fuck is GANTZ? Gantz is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiroya Oku (of Gigant and Inuyashiki, his later works). Gantz tells the story of a teenager named Kei Kurono, among others, who die but find themselves brought back in perfectly healthy bodies and forced to participate in a "game" where they must hunt down and kill aliens. Those who die on missions are quickly replaced by others in following missions. >so why the fuck should i bother reading this shitty edgy seinen It has everything you could ask for. Action, ultraviolence, gore, gratuitous naked bodies, sex, drugs, aliens, horror, stupid characters and decisions, funny moments, drama and a bit of realism on how modern japanese people would react to such a ridiculous premise and be expected to take it seriously. And, if you only watched the anime with terrible pacing and ending and never bothered to read this, is gonna be a hell of an upgrade for you. I mean, it will still get dumb, but way more enjoyable.
Well, the same could be said of Bleach, Berserk, etc. It's never too late to watch it again and enjoy it. Or do you mean like a previous storytime thread? Please let me know to avoid redundancy and to kill myself out of shame
Sorry man. I was also thinking of doing it after that to avoid storytime saturation. But given the sheer amount of Bleach volumes, i figured doing it a little later would not bring trouble
Also hope the dump makes people appreciate Gantz more than just overlooking it as wasted potential. While the ending wasn't the best and it doesn't end the way i wanted to, i still believe it to be a unique wild ride of it's own with many highs than lows and full of SOUL just like Bleach.
Closures can truly turn any story either to a good memory or ruin it completely, and it's a shame. For instance, i always liked this portrayal of modern Japan society as one of Gantz goos points, as they're all are honest to god shit people. I mean look at this beginning (even if the MCs are retards)
The characters being dick to one another is what makes them so great and relatable. Besides, that's the charm of a seinen series. Mangaka can explore the moral ambiguity of the protagonist.
