Too many normalfags think you can't learn using the shit you already like as a main source. That's been debunked. You can build your vocabulary and get used to the language straight from anime, raw manga, untranslated games etc. And that doesn't prevent you from listening to native normalfag conversations and learning that type of Japanese if you want to know how to "speak normally" too.
If you're going to spend thousands of hours on weebshit anyway you might as well develop the skills to understand it in it's native language with all the original meaning. So much is lost in translation not to mention all the shit with no translations in the first place.

it's not like you need someone to tell you how to do it. there's a million ways to learn and pretty much all of them will get you to the right place if you stick with it. they all have flaws but it's not like learning Japanese is some fine art - it's a language, and the more you try, the more the rough edges smooth out. Literally just read Japanese written by Japanese people, listen to Japanese spoken by Japanese people, if those two sources are the foundation of your learning you will eventually sound and write like that

vocab is much more dependent on the setting than the medium. though vns being written can make them a little more wordy/formal than anime, but it's not as huge as comparing a high school vn with a medieval fantasy vn

I wouldn't take it so literally. fantasy vns will just have a lot of words that don't appear in other works and vice versa. You'll probably see castle or magic in a fantasy setting, but rarely in a modern one. Regardless, vns are mainly just written and don't offer complete practice for how they actually sound. don't expect to go straight from eng subs to raw anime, typically once you get good at reading, you'll use japanese subtitles and pause if you need time to catch up, as you get used to it you become quicker and more able to understand without pausing, then eventually you build up recognition for sounds in practice. To be frank I still don't watch raws all the time because it's easier to watch with english subs. you tend to correct sub mistakes in your head as you hear them, but for the most part having that english translation as a basis makes it much more comfortable. and don't think about it in the number of vns - just read japanese like every day, play some vns read some manga, even jp news sites. Mix it up so you don't exhaust yourself. Expect for it to take years before you're really comfortable with it though
