If the name of the game (now) is preventing the other player from dying first, wouldn't both Hal/Souichi and Baku be dropping the handkerchief at the first possible second to stop the other from doing the instant check? At this rate the first one to hit the supposed "lethal" dosage of 5 minutes would be Souichi but the odds of him being revived are pretty dang low with a timer that high. Unless we're going to get some wack twist like restraining one of them so they can't drop the handkerchief

What irks me the most about this judgment is that that they were playing a game suggested by Captain Lacy, under his own tricky rules. It's how Lacy abused the rule about needing to press exactly on ships. It would have been easy to also add some foreshadowing where Captain Lacy uses tricky wording in the rules that technically allows him to move the equipment. This small change would have made the referee's judgment so much easier to accept. She could have gone on and argued that normally Lacy's behavior would never have been allowed in a game under Kakerou rules but Gakuhito was fucked since he agreed to Lacy's rules.

I guess the short term is strat is “drop it at 0 seconds to prevent a death”. But the long term gamble is that Yakou can persist, and by taking a death you hurt your chances for survival afterwards. It’s a tough choice, but that’s why it’s a gamble.

This exact same situation played out in Hand Chopper, and it was beautiful seeing Neronero crumble due to his oversight
