people like stories about underdogs and like to see those characters elevate themselves or overcome adversity. like in naruto he was a fuck up and nobody believed in him but he kept trying and came up with creative ways to overcome his learning disorder (50% of the time through bullshit). midoriya's power is kind of boring, it was interesting when he could only use it when disabling himself but once you're past that it's just being really fast and strong, which is boring. i mean i think that him having no powers sounds worse than him having 7 but i get why people like the idea.
