Well, you're kind of right, but also very wrong.

The premise of the series is pretty retarded IMO. Boy and girl love each other, but neither of them is willing to confess because "muh big ego", "muh family prestige" and "muh economic position", so the whole series is them trying to play "mind games" in order to get the other side to confess first. If somebody had told me the premise before I tried it out, I may have not really bothered.

However, its execution is glorious. It's a comedy series and it excels at that. Most of its stories are great, and it just keeps getting better and better. The voice acting is also glorious. Kaguya's "okawaii-koto" compilations on YouTube are a treasure by themselves.

And there's also Chika, who you may usually regard as a side character, but she's actually among my favorite moeblob characters of all time. Not only is she adorable as fuck and has an adorable as fuck voice, but she's also smart and cunning, hands down the most intelligent character in the series (if you're not taking her goofball attitude at face value), and she's frequently a major driving force in the series and has a lot of great moments.

So tl;dr, just try it out. Its massive popularity is not without reason. And it's not just Zig Forums that likes it, the whole internet has been creaming its pants about this show since it started airing. So at least base your impressions of it on something more tangible than just "group of people I usually disagree with likes something it's probably shit".
