Soft seinen is such a stupid fucking term. Do hunterfags even know what a seinen is, or do they just think it's blood and sex. They act like their manga is so much better than one piece or whatever, and say it's better than other seinen manga cause it's more "sophisticated" and does not need blood to be adult, yet they never compare it to ACTUAL seinen manga like Akira or Vagrabond. Except for, of course, AoT, which shits all over this manga by the way. Hunter x hunter is just a cut above one piece intellectually, but will never have the sophistication or adult subject matter of a seinen manga, EVER!

HxH has plenty of blood and gore. But that's not important, what makes HxH a soft seinen isn't blood and gore. If anything, focusing on blood and gore is the sign of a shounenshitter compensating.
It's the underlying themes, motivations and presence that each character carries that have pushed HxH into soft seinen.
The Phantom Troupe, the Zoldyck family, Gon and his peers. All of them have different motivations, and all are very well characterised.

It's time for us to define Soft Seinen, the earliest definitions from the archives explicate Soft Seinen as: " A shounen manga that transcended it's shounen nature into seinen territory"
In where we recognize the "Seinen territory" as a place of experiment ability and the "shounen territory" as territory of the pedantic, one which confines itself to the formula of "success" of WSJ, that's is the standards that which manga must comply to be seriliazed on WSJ.
Soft Seinen is then not necessarily a breaking from those moods and standards, neither a desconstruction but rather a reconstruction over those molds and standards.
Thus we conclude that for a work to be considered Soft Seinen it needs to be:
1. Have it's framework composed of traditional WSJ elements
2. Spin them to their own accord and reshape the reader's view of that standard
3. Be experimental while still maintaining the reader interested
