Why should I watch EVA?

Why should I watch EVA?
The first episode was so damn boring.

Kys

Nobody’s forcing you to watch it.

You would probably not understand the central themea anyway so don't bother, high time preference monkey

I was just wondering if I prehaps misjudged it and if it picks up?

No I'm sure the appreciation from great writers and directors is just misguided and you know better after watching the first episode. Just watch it

Watch at least until Asuka joins the cast. You can drop it then.

Based reifag
Just watch it op

Just watch the movie.
First ep of the series is about as exiting as it gets minus a few things.

Are the movie Asuka and Rei more interesting or something? Cause the show version just seemed like damaged annoying girls.

If you didn't like the first episode, you won't like the rest. Maybe something like Naruto is more your speed.

I hate naruto
Cowboy beeboople, lain, moomins were good

I’ll do it for you, my love

the entire show is fucking boring and overrated

>Why should I watch EVA?
cool robot

it does get better, but it continues in the same direction
if you didn't like the direction or mood of the first episode, you won't like the series

first 6 episodes are the best episodes
while anno was trying to make a series of movies to show why he thinks the first 6 episodes are shit, he accidentally made a movie of the first six episodes without changing much. watch that if you don't have the patience or if for some reason you don't like hand drawn stuff.

>boring
not really
>overrated
definitely, I could be wrong, but i think it was most people here's first anime so it makes sense the combination of nostalgia goggles and lack of quality content today it's so known.

It depends what are you looking for in EVA?

That IS a pretty cool robot.

Yee. It's pretty good, but peeps round these parts like to blow shit out of proportion.

Maybe it's just not your thing. It's really cool tho, you're missing out~ Try the manga maybe?

Because you're not supposed to watch it like that. The correct watch order is: NGE episode 26 -> 14 -> 15, 16, 17, 18 -> 1, 2, 5, 6, 3 -> 25, 24, 23, 22 -> Death & Rebirth -> Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0 -> End of Evangelion -> Rebuild of Evangelion 3.0 -> NGE episode 8, 9, 10 -> Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0

First half of EVA is slow as balls if you can accept that you can watch it

NGE should really have been a 13-episode anime.

It starts as a somewhat straightforward mecha vs angel of the week action with plenty of lighthearted comedic moments then 0-100s into psychological drama and tragedy within a few episodes that really could have used more screentime but by then whoops we gotta wrap it up.

It isn't the kind of cohesive narrative where every scene and moment really matters and wouldn't be better off unseen. The finale doesn't rely on early momentum, or high school gags about Shinji's awkwardness and Asuka's inflating suit. The tone shift is jarring and not well handled imo.

I thought the first episode was cool. I love the gritty military vibes Evangelion gives off.

dont watch it and go away

Holy fuck I actually LOLd

I know this is bait but what happens if you watch it like this?

Enlightenment

Evangelion is a show that changes DRAMATICALLY as the show goes on. The tone of the show at the start is nothing like it is in the middle, and neither of them are anything like what the show becomes by the end. Its a show that is greater than the sum of its parts, and if you watch it to the end I can promise you that even if you don't like the show it is absolutely something you will remember and think about for a long time.

What about episodes 11-13?
