I am absolutely in love.

Didn't click with me. Too much le randum shit and it doesn't know whether it wants to be a lighthearted comedy series or serious edge fest.

Enjoy the ride. Its a really fun one, take your time and enjoy.

It's my favourite manga. Too bad the anime attracted shitposters as usual.

>it doesn't know whether it wants to be a lighthearted comedy series or serious edge fest.
It's both. That's the point.

The heavy tonal shift between arcs and chapters is palpable

I liked it before it get popular with the nomalfags and netflixfags.

Yes? You may not like it but it knows what it's doing.

But they have no impact on the manga so why would that change your opinion?

What should I read next? I feel like this art style and tone is dead now that anime and manga is catering to the mainstream.

Well, the author's previous and next works are the closest thing. Maken X and Dai Dark.

BEST A BEST, personally i believe there is no one as skilled in artistic composition as hayashida. She explores and experiments with art like no other manga i have ever read, if theres is someone else who does that please do say so i would love to read more work that tries to experiment(inb4 i have read fire punch)

Her new stuf Dai Dark is pretty good
Try reading Hideki MORI stuff like Bokko, good balance of grit and fun too, and classic 80-90s linework

Dai Dark has a slightly different feel than Tonto, since it's simultaneously edgier but also sillier

>you and your skelebro looting a space ikea of bones before escaping

You should really read Tayou Matsumoto, Shigeru Mizuki
and think what you want of the manga, but Eichiro Oda is an absolute master who can do the fuck he wants with a pen, and the only guy that can do Gotlib style comedy right
If you don't know who Gotlib is, well it's time to try some other boards

>Eichiro Oda is an absolute master

Kaiman is very handsome, yes.

The opening and endings are awesome...the theme of this anime is biopunk or isnt?

Having dorohedoro and no guns life on this year makes 2020 a little better.

How did Kasukabe do it? He caused all those problems and got away with it.

He never did anything wrong, really. He just helped anyone he came by so that he could advance his research.

I wish I could read it all for the first time again. I loved how most of the characters were likeable including villians.

Just finished the manga, blew my mind

But why was young Nikaido able to travel through time at will? Just because her box was smaller and she could fit in it?

>lighthearted comedy series or serious edge fest.
it's perfect because it's both and its sometimes both at the same time
sort of like real life, cute, fun stuff happens one minute, horrible gruesome stuff happens the next

Yes and not much of her life has happened yet so the change she could've done is not as big.

If you want something artistically similar, but far darker then go with something like one of Jiro Matsumoto's works - Jigoku no Alice or Freesia for example.
If you want something artistically very different but perhaps tonally more similar then Dowman Saymen's works are a good choice - Voynich Hotel for example.
