Pretty sure the bigger issues are that:
1) they region lock the shit out it, including a bunch of Asian countries (yes, VPN and workarounds exist, but good luck getting the typical person to know how to do that)
2) they overestimated Madoka's popularity in the west; most people only care about the anime, they barely gave a shit about the manga spin-offs, let alone the gacha game
Sure, them speeding up like crazy may have a played part in killing off interests among the casual players, but I don't think it's as crucial as the points above like locking out the markets that actually give a shit about gacha.

Apparently the biggest reason by far was region locking. The EN server was NA only, meaning Europe, South America, and especially Southeast Asia were all locked out of playing the game. SEA players are the ones that always keep these english servers alive, gacha games in NA don't make money for shit. That's why MagiReco died even though there are even smaller gacha that are still alive after years, just dumb mismanagement.

Because the west has very small fanbases and if it's not well known shit like fate it's gonna fail. It's why this failed and the Symphogear mobage failed in the west. If you're gonna play mobage play the JP versions always because EN has a extremely high chance of shutting down very quick.
