I wanted to post this, but looks like you beat me to it. Anyway, yeh I agree with you on this. For me, this is where I feel like "modern anime" truly began (if at all). You had blu-rays first coming in, digital animation was getting a lot better with a couple of shows being superbly well-done in that department. There were pretty amazing looking shows before in the 2000s, but from here it gets consistently good each year after. Also something about the "anime bubble burst", but idk too much about that. Even though people are gonna trash how you put Code Geass and F/SN there, it's kinda true as they helped shape the year. What I wanna know is how it happened.
Like, what led to this year being so overly great. Compared to how you hear people saying pop culture in general reached a somewhat "golden age" in 2007 with music, films and games; anime's best year was a year out, which I find interesting. Another thing, you missed out a few of anime in your list: >The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya >Kemonozume >Kanon (2006) >Le Chavlier D'Eon >Strawberry Panic >Nana And I know you didn't want to mention sequels but: >Major S2 >Aria the Natural (S2) >School Rumble S2 >Honey & Clover S2
Honestly, this year is absolutely amazing >Name A Single Better Year idk, but there are a few other years which I've seen people say are the best. I'll do that in the next post
2007 >Hidamari Sketch >Nodame Cantabile >Gurren Lagann >Claymore >Darker Than Black >Lovely Complex >Seirei no Moribito >Lucky Star >Dennou Coil >Mononoke >Baccano! >Clannad >Ef: A Tale of Memories
Others say 1998, 2002, 2016 and even 2018. I like '98 quite a bit too.
1998 >Outlaw Star >Record of Lodoss War >Trigiun >Cowboy Bebop >Yu-Gi-Oh! >Cardcaptor Sakura >Princess Nine >Initial D >Yokohama Shopping Trip >Serial Experiments Lain >Kare Kano >Master Keaton Take you pick, really
Liam Murphy
I figured I had missed a few, like I also forgot to include the release of the first Hellsing Ultimate OVA that year.
>idk, but there are a few other years which I've seen people say are the best. 2006 is my personal favorite, but a lot of those years in the late 00's were amazing, so many good releases, and a ton that were long haul too, 24+ episodes. Now you pray for more than one series this season to be good, and pray for more than 12 episodes.

2005, you faggot

Another good year that hasn't been mentioned yet is 2003
I'm glad you mentioned Priness Nine for 1998. I really liked it, but not a lot of people know about it. I also like Lodoss more as TV than OVA, so I can agree with that too.
Some other anime that may be worth mentioning are Fancy Lala, which is very unengaging and hard to get yourself to watch but feels extremely realistic so a very specific type of person will love it, and a couple I haven't seen but are on my radar and seem to have at least some popularity, Neo Ranga and Getter Robo Armageddon.

I think this year is the best.

And everyone is unemployed so we have time to watch stuff.

>Beck >Black Jack >Bleach >Desert Punk >Elfen Lied >Flame of Recca >Gantz >Midori Days >Monster >Samurai Champloo >School Rumble >Yakitate >Yu-Gi-Oh! GX uh oh i guess 2004 is kino
Oh, and since I mentioned 2003, I should make an attempt to list some, based on common consensus and my own opinions:
Seen: >Kaleido Star >Kino no Tabi >Planetes >Fullmetal Alchemist >Scrapped Princess >Last Exile >Wolf's Rain >Fumoffu
Not seen: >Gunslinger Girl >Cromartie High School >Texhnolyze >Uchuu no Stellvia >Ashita no Nadja
I'm currently working on Mermaid Melody, which doesn't have a strong reputation, but seems pretty good so far, so maybe it could be included when I finish it, if it turns out good.
Holy fucking ahit taste OP and to think some faggots agree, this place is doomed

Post what you think was the best year for anime instead of just criticizing others.

>Death Note >Gintama >The Girl Who Leapt Through Time >Welcome to the N.H.K. 4 good series, that's a good year for you? Well, good for you, but you are wrong, 2019 was better and I don't think 2019 was really that good.
John Martin
That's the year all the autists were conveniently contained within a single series, how could I forget?
2010 - 2011 is still undefeated as the pinnacle of anime and so far no other year have beat it.
Jackson Parker
2006 is mostly a meme year, so you will find tons of people just saying it was great to sit in the cool kids table.
Logan Rivera
Wow you took the time to write all that shit? Pure shit tier.
Landon Thompson
Pet and Nami yo Kiitekure were also fucking amazing, give them a chance, there's also Fruits Basket S2 and Bookworm S2, and on my personal opinion Jashin-chan S2 was glorious, is a show that take me back to the good times of Squid Girl an Milky Holmes.

>D.Gray-Man will never be finished in your lifetime and the story is such a mess anyways that any conceivable adaptation is out of the question at this point.
