Finished this the other day. It was shit, specially compared to the movies, I still have to read the book. Explains nothing and the family just wanders from one point to another. Fucking scientist who knows the true nature of the disasters tags along and they fucking never pay attention to him. Only thing I liked was the ending, based albino survives. That and the fact that the cult was actually what it said it was.
Best adaptation to date is the one made by the gamera trilogy dude

he could have just not tried to do the whole run in 1 wave and stayed at the stable side with the walls to hold onto but literally every death in the series is completely pointless.

The message was supposed to be about "rising up from the ashes" but at the end they kill the only character that embodied that message and they even let the 2 worst characters of a series already full of bad characters to survive which send a lot of mixed messages there, literally the 2 shitty kids learn nothing or change in any way after all the events of the story, what was the message of the story then?
