harem*
Eva didn't ruin mecha, and Monogatari didn't ruin SoL, to the comparison fails.
That's basically the same thing in this day and age. But fair enough.
I’ve watched Eva but now t the other two, and all I know is that madoka magica has some girl kill herself or something
Monogatari is harem shit for pedos
nani?
monogatari is barely a slice of life, if your naming naming shows that did something special within its format a better pick is watamote
isn't Watamote is a harem series though?
This. Monogatari being a slice of life is like saying it's a battle shonen because it contains high impact violence like pic related and is aimed at the teen market.
that whole episode was pretty amusing
First, don't you mean harem genre, as called attention to?
Anno and Urobochi respected the mecha and mahou shoujo genres respectively. I do not think Nisio respects the harem genre
A show that did nothing new, but casuals love it because it has good presentation?
That's debatable.
Hot take: Monegatari is vastly overrated, and its presentation is painful if you can't speak Japanese.
Note I didn't say "unless you watch the sub". The rapid fire presentation of the show makes it a nightmare. I got through like 2 episodes before dropping it.
Yes, drop your >filtered here.
Don't fall for this meme.
>you're just tryna have a good time but your girlfriend keeps trying to give you a handy in the backseat and make her dad watch just to spite you
Honestly, probably one of the highest tension moments in the entire series and it's entirely a fucking joke within a romance episode.
Anno is a certified otaku, regardless of what he claims, but did Urobuchi really like Magic Girl shit? From what I've heard Madoka was Shinbou's idea.
I appreciate you know you're a fucking casual but still choose to have an opinion anyway. You can have my (you) just based on the raw respect I have for your self-awareness.
Senjogahara is great when used correctly.
It's not even a problem with Nisio himself. I'm re-reading Medaka Box with the story time here and it's been great to go back through.
Monegatari just didn't click with me.
the presentation doesn't really have anything to do with the language as I understand, I think you meant to slight its dialogue and source, user.
She's only really had three good scenes. The car scene, the Koyokoyo Valentine's scene and the Observatory episode. Otherwise she's pretty accurately placed in the background.
Fair. I like both for different reasons. You might just need more ass-kicking in your series and that's okay.
No, I honestly mean the rapid fire text on screen that demanded you either read at light speed, pause and go back multiple times, or just ignore it. I don't know if the series drops that aesthetic later on, but reading the subs alongside trying to read whatever they were translating on screen was a nightmare for me.
I hope you try to get into Monogatari again. If you like some of Isin's other works then you might find something to like if you're patient and remove your reservations.
I think that text is like an easter egg. I doubt Japanese were able to catch it all on broadcast, and so you're not supposed to on the first run through.
some of her early Bake stuff was good as I recall
This sentence says literally nothing
It wasn't. Early Senjougahara was the worst.
>Monogatari is for lolicons
>when used correctly
as a toilet?
>EVA
>Mecha
I guess AoT is mecha now too.
It's to condense the story. Think of it as the pointless inner thoughts of the protagonist. It's not essential. In Kizumonogatari they took it a step further and removed Koyomi's inner dialogue completely.
Is that why you're afraid to watch it?
Works that manage to stand out for various reasons, that a certain brand of pretentious people have placed upon too high a pedestal after wasting too many hours of their lives on them, while a different brand of the same people have deemed them garbage out of a need to feel special by going against the common opinion? If so, I might agree with you OP.
>Anno and Urobochi respected the mecha and mahou shoujo genres respectively. I do not think Nisio respects the harem genre
The whole point is that Eva and Madoka are deconstructions of their respective genres. Monogatari is also a deconstruction of harem/SoL.
