i like all the characters in black clover, yes they are one dimensional having only a few personality traits defined by their backstory's but its not like read shonen manga for the deep characterization.
its the most shonen shonen you could read, its full of cliches and well known character archetypes but it handles them very well and side steps a lot of problems that other shonen fall into like power levels getting out of control, or side characters being left in the dust.
i would also add that black clover improves every arc( not that hard given the very rough start it had)
