my buddy is doing the same thing man, he lived in New York City for 27 years and has been talking about it forever and he finally made moves and moved to a farm this season as an apprentice. he told me he already knows he never wants to move back. hopefully I can get him on board with the commune because he should be able to teach us a lot after he's got a few more growing seasons under his belt. He's broke but after I make it I would pay him a good wage and all his expenses to help run the farm

because it's shitty. the majority of people in cities live for other people's prepackaged stories. all they aspire to is consuming the next highly marketed streamlined 'artisinal' experience, whether it be food, media, clothing, exercise, or parties. if you have ever lived a life free of that, you immediately feel ill to have to interact with people who have made cities "their" environment. it's like they've been lobotomized and can only react to the most base stimulii.

Because country living is the fucking best. Running a farm and doing hard physical work then getting home in the evening and chilling knowing that all your labor has been expended for yourself, on your own land, is amazing.
Getting to know the local wildlife beyond "oh there's a bird" and having them all recognise you feels amazing and gives you a sense of place.
There is a naturalness to working with the land that fulfils a deep spiritual need, and there is a freedom to being in a wide open space that does the same. Mentally ill urban screen addicts will never understand.

I don't want to participate in society anymore because honestly, no one wants me here. I live in a city and during the entire BLM protests, there were fireworks going off 24/7. That is enough to tell me that any person who does not have a dark skin color is not wanted in any city. It is what it is, and honestly, I can't even blame them. The more I study about how the country was founded, the more I realize the USA was founded by rich people who were just as corrupt as the kings in England they were trying to escape from. I just want to start a legitimate business that requires buying commercial real estate. In order to even start a business like that you need to have made it already. If you've made it already why do you need to waste a bunch of money on a business that till take a decade to pay off?
